As StartIsBack definitly proves, coexistence is highly possible, running it here, i don´t get your point. Not skipping, delegating it to it´s proper place (deeply burried in background ). Only thing i was able to descern from your post is, that you don´t like Start Menu . Good to to know, i guess.
Configuration is done with a few clicks and you barely will recognize the original Start Screen or Charms Bar. StartIsBack provides an option to show only "Apps" in Start Screen though. It´s as easy to configure even my grandma could do this...guess you underestimate people too fast .
Thats really not a bad thing if you think about it. One start menu for people who love the "metro" interface / have touch screens and the "traditional" start menu for people who hate "metro" and dont have touch screens.
But for that you'd need more than "two startmenus", in this case scenario you do not want hot corners for App Switcher/Charms bar, and a few Metro only things would have needed to be backported into the old Interface so you get a consistent expirence when using the "old" thing. But lets face it, if you want W7 Startmenu, there are plenty alternatives now so there is 0% reason for microsoft to implement anything now.
Due to not using "Metro"-"Apps" at all no problems here. MS and letting others earn their money...LOL. Time will tell . Btw, no inconsistent experience here so far.
This is MS original Start Menu code brought back to light . They weren´t able to delete this due to massiv dependencies. Guess MS won´t be able to do this better...they should hire Tihiy .
It wasnt about the Startmenu of StartIsBack, "Enable hotcorners" and stuff is not even part of the Startmenu.
If the Start Screen made sense, then Microsoft wouldn't have fired Sinofsky, 8 is going to be another ME/Vista -- you could probably even say OS/2 as well -- and hardly anyone I know is buying Windows 8 or anything with it. I was in Best Buy & FutureShop, and saw people walk away from the laptops/desktops shaking their heads in disbelief.
i use start8 by stardock. i did try classic shell but did not like it, i found it to hard to configure where start8 is easy to configure. at least for me
