Well I got it installed and still nothing. It isn't a mouse, its a "Synaptics SMBus" unless there is a way to re-flash the touchpad from that its probably hosed :negative:

Please tell me how to fix it someone :( I can't afford a new computer!

Well since my laptop is under warranty still, HP has decided to replace the touchpad (and the crappy hard drive) for free so thanks to everyone that helped anyway.
BTW I had an old Dell Inspiron 8100 that the video card got toasted by a software update (anyone remember the geforce2 go?) I had to desolder a tiny chip off of it and put it on my robotics programmer and then I did the same to the BIOS. By the end of that lappy's life it had DirectX 10 support, about 4 gigs of RAM, overclockable Pentium III, wireless ABGN, and ran Windows 7 better than our old desktops. (custom made BIOS, I got DellDeco somewhere too I should upload it) Could beat a netbook any day and certainly would make a Dell tech crap himself... :naughty:

I called it the "Synergy BIOS" after the game Golden Sun because it certainly seemed magical at the time.

PS I had it overclocked to 2 GHz at some times :p sometimes you just have to say "screw buying a computer, I cant afford it" and put in some time to make the old ones run like new again. (next project: a 486 running windows 8?)

OK, its been a few days and I don't think I need to send it back after all. This morning the touchpad works perfectly!

I think, that your fw update was successful, only the driver wasn't assigned properly after the fw update...

Did you try looking in the device manager?

Did you try looking in the Device Manager? Look for an Unknown Device or anything that isn't installed right. If that doesn't work, I guess you have to send it back to HP :(

    Hello Bloodrain.

I have a dell Precision M50 ( a C840 with a quadro 700 in it) I still use it and I re- wrote and flashed a new edid file to correct the corrupted one. I'm running seven on it nicely. I noticed you said you have Delldeco somewhere. Would you be willing to upload it some where for me?

    PrecisionM50.

I am sorry to bring this topic back into attention, but I have two identical HP M6 notebooks, one of which the touchpad firmware has been updated with the wrong version.

Does anyone have an image for the Synaptics Board ID: TM2054-001 TouchPad?? Or; does anyone have a tool that can create a backup firmware image file?

    Simple.
