After Windows installation, I opt out from spying eyes via Action Center and then disable all those tasks from Task Scheduler that can collect "anonymous" data for telemetry purpose. I also disable such services and adjust desired values in Group Policies. It is lengthy boring process, but I prefer to do it once after installation before hermano mayor comes at my house gate and says 'Hola, te amo .... porno?' :movingtongue:

I am confused as to who the hostility is towards, I posted what I thought would be of interest to the people of this forum, I read the article and tried to link to it, but had a message tell me as per forum rules I am not allowed to post links until I have 5 posts or more, I therfore wrote in the first post 'found this else where' I have know idea if posting a link without h*****/ would work or not but I would be breaking a forum rule by doing so, if people are really that petty here then goodbye no loss to me, I personally dont even run windows 8 just thought the article would be of interest here!

My Guest account has always come by default disabled since Windows XP. I just checked and it is indeed disabled by default on my Windows 8 installations.

This has been happening for years with or without Smartscreen - data harvesting from every Windows OS installed including 3rd party software is old news! no matter what firewall, antivirus or other means you try to block, it uses piggy back exploits to send the data with M$ "legitimate" services - similar stealth methods are used by Google to syphon "anonymous" data from your computer wihtout your consent!

When I navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System I don't see SmartScreen. I had to disable it from Action Center. Where actually is it in HKEY? Or I had to create a Key in in it?

    to disable from reg tweak...

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System]
     “EnableSmartScreen”=dword:00000000
