After reading the entire thread I have to wonder how many people here have used Easy2Boot and RMPrepUSB. The Easy2Boot web site has a guide. Just remember to format the flash drive to NTFS for ISOs larger than 4GB. I put my 4.7GB Win8.1 ISO in the ISO\AUTO folder and installed without a problem. When Easy2Boot was first developed it didn't work with UEFI but now it does.
Unless you are using a different boot loader other than the MS version, you cannot boot to NTFS in UEFI. I suspect you are booting legacy if you are not using a different loader.
Thank you very much for that very clear statement, indicating why 'Windows 7 USB/DVD tool doesn't support UEFI booting'. I had this problem with a cousin who repeatedly tried to use it to create a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface booting device from a Windows 8 ISO without success. At the end he had to resort to 'Rufus USB creating tool' using the MBR booting process before the BIOS could locate the USB as a booting device.
Well, I don't know about complex instructions....??? For each Windows Installer ISO... 1. Drag-and-drop the Windows Install ISO onto the MPI_FAT32 desktop shortcut 2. Copy it to the E2B USB drive To use: 1. Boot in CSM mode from the E2B USB Drive 2. Select the Windows Installer image you want 3. Boot from the E2B USB drive in UEFI mode (or just choose the Clover option to boot in UEFI mode without needing to reboot) The Windows files are not changed at all, it is very non-invasive. The MS files on the partition are just as God Bill intended!
The people I'm posting about are the kind that complained when I issued simple SVF patches and links to smartversion website. I included the smartversion installer zip files. That didn't help. I had to make sfx files with a smartversion commandline extractor exe. Then, people stop seeding the source file. If I didn't enjoy tackling the strange technical issues sometimes, I probably would have just stopped uploading long ago. It's become a big hobby of mine.
Apparently the win7 boot setup supports split-wims as well. It doesn't have only the same-edition license files, so all you have to do is split the wim and delete the old install.wim or store it somewhere else for failsafe. Temp folders FTW. Looks like my win7aio is going to get a UEFI upgrade this month.
You first would need to export the esd to a wim using the fake capture directory method. But, to get the license file in the first chunk, you'd have to capture a directory of the license files in the appropriate directory structure. So basically: 1 - Extract the license files I linked in that post to a temporary empty folder such as c:\temp 2 - Capture the c:\temp folder with the extracted files to a new install.wim file Code: dism /capture-image /imagefile:c:\win81x64\sources\install.wim /name:"Windows 8.1 with Office" /compress:max /capturedir:c:\temp 3 - Export the old install.esd file to the install.wim file so that it lands at index 2 Code: dism /export-image /sourceimagefile:c:\win81x64\sources\install.esd /sourceindex:1 /destinationimagefile:c:\win81x64\sources\install.wim /compress:recovery 4 - Delete the first index in the image so that the data is still there, but the index is not listed during install Code: dism /delete-image /imagefile:c:\win81x64\sources\install.wim /index:1 5 - Split the wim Code: dism /split-image /imagefile:c:\win81x64\sources\install.wim /swmfile:c:\win81x64\sources\install.swm /filesize:4095 6 - move the old install.wim to a safe location in case further changes are necessary.
Thanks for your quick reply! I'd try this, hope it works. Last question... this .iso files includes: Spoiler Índice: 1Nombre: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro August Update + Office + Suite Descripción: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro August Update + Office + Suite* Tamaño: 22.661.840.384 bytesÍndice: 2 Nombre: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro August Update + Office Descripción: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro August Update + Office Tamaño: 19.718.895.936 bytesÍndice: 3 Nombre: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro August Update Descripción: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro August Update Tamaño: 14.332.347.595 bytesÍndice: 4 Nombre: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro WMC August Update + Office Descripción: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro WMC August Update + Office Tamaño: 19.850.923.516 bytesÍndice: 5 Nombre: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro WMC August Update Descripción: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro WMC August Update Tamaño: 14.468.305.605 bytesÍndice: 6 Nombre: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro WMC August Update + Office + Suite Descripción: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro WMC August Update + Office + Suite Tamaño: 22.810.635.438 bytesÍndice: 7 Nombre: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro ELDI Edition** Descripción: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro ELDI Edition Tamaño: 22.742.400.816 bytesÍndice: 8 Nombre: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro WMC ELDI Edition** Descripción: Windows 8.1 x64 Pro WMC ELDI Edition Tamaño: 22.997.345.618 bytes How could I delete all those Índices (indexes) except number 2? Hi, I'm stuck at step 3, adk gave me this error and I couldn't figure out what's causing it. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Thanks! So I moved away from the folder both the install.esd and install.wim files and created the .ISO again with imgbrn. Now it's done? I mean, I don't have to do anything else and just load the .ISO in rufus in fat32?
Hmm... I think if you're using a USB drive, all it needs to be is fat32 formatted and it should boot fine. It doesn't matter which partition scheme you use for your boot device, but you can use GPT if it makes you comfortable.
Hi, I did the 6 steps with no errors but when I boot with the USB drive I'm getting the "license missing" message after pressing install button. Is this because I've got to do something else? Or could it be 'cause (i guess) my .ISO is spanish and windows seeks for the "es-ES" licenses folder instead of the english one?
That's exactly why it's doing that. You will need to fish out the appropriate licenses and put them in the first split by capturing that folder with just the licensing info. I know it's a lot of work to go around mounting things and all, but if you want it to fit on uefi fat32 for usb flash drives, it's what you gotta do. If you get around to getting all the spanish license files gathered up, you might try sharing it on mirrorcreator or something so other people can use them.
I didn't understand where do I have to modify it and how, could you paraphrase this for me? I'm not a native english speaker, excuse me!
