I've I bought Win 8 pro x64 upgrade version, and I'm in panic because I don't want lost activation (I'm still with Win7 at the moment).
Many people told me to back up, but I did not understand what is the most "correct/best" procedure or program.

    Any help?

    I'm using SLICed bios/Z77 motherboard.

Why panic? simply do a complete backup of your 7 with Acronis for example and then upgrade to 8. If it fails, remount your backup and you're back with your 7. Btw: didn't you do any backups in the past?

If you bought an official Upgrade Version/Key from Microsoft, you didn't have to be worry about activation! Once you've Upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8, or done a clean install instead. you'll be activated automatically again. Than may it's time for to backup your activation of Windows 8 and you may should read the Guide how to Backup and Restore your Windows Activation here: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/35737-GUIDE-How-to-backup-and-restore-Windows-8-activation

If you didn't know what to do next or get lost, just ask at MDL and there a lot of members who eager to help. So, in reality you don't need to be worry.

From my personal point of view, I would use an clean install of Windows 8 after I had backup my important data from within Windows 7 or, if I have, I had cloned the Windows7 HDD to an other one and stored the "original" in an safe place in case something goes wrong and/or I get lost. I even would reconnect the original HDD after the Windows 8 Installation and use the BIOS Boot Manager for to chose which OS/HDD I like to run next. That would give me the opportunity to have everything available if something is need or go wrong. But that's my personal way I would go why other may would chose a different way.

Thanks a lot for your answers :worthy:

I'm sorry for my english, I was probably inaccurate.
I am anxious for backup of the new OS license, because it's my 1st upgrade version.

Program like Acronis, can backup Windows 8 system and activation?

Thank you very much! I thought at a fresh & clean Recovery bootable DVD (of Win8), so I always find a copy already activated (if I run out of activations). Can I do it with some programs?

I thought that Windows did not ask me to activate the key online, but directly from the installation (iso/usb boot).
This means that I can re-install it as many times as I want?

If you bought upgrade key ,then you don't have to worry about activation ! No more Mr. Nice , asking you to activate your copy of window . On first connecting to Internet , It first goes home to activate the copy , without informing you or asking for permission !!

If you are on same computer , No you wouldn't even know .

Best App is Acronis True Image and worth every cent.

Do a fresh Install and backup up the Image . I make Image after installing all my essential apps. Then reload whenever needed.

One thing keep in mind . During Fresh install win7 creates a 100 mb system folder. And Win 8 will install on that existing 100 mb system folder . But if you format and delete the 100 mb folder and offer unallocated space , win 8 creates a 350 mb system folder .
this creates a mismatch in size of system folder . Probably acronis can handle it . But just try it before you put final trust in it .

Always use install only keys or any other key which is blocked by MS & can't be activated. Or use ei.cfg from this thread .

You can also use your original key too but disconnect internet & when finally UP replace tokens.
