Windows 8 Task Manager is reporting my CPU turbo speed to be 5Ghz where i5 3550 non-k can max out at 4.1 Ghz.

How come your AMD 8120 CPU is running at 4.8GHz? The original frequency for that CPU is 3.1GHz and with MaxTurbo 4.0GHZ!! My own WEI with Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation is the same as in Windows 7 Ultimate:
He overclocked the CPU. Windows 7 and Windows 8 WEI scores should be slightly different since the scale changed. My scores (2 previous posts) in Windows 7 were 7.8 CPU and 7.9 everywhere else.
I think also he did that! But: the Max Turbo is just 4.0 GHZ and that's the max AMD is recommending for overclocking. If I set my "Bulldozer" CPU (FX4100, Max Turbo 3.8GHz) to 4.0 GHz the temperature jumps to 88 Celsius with Watercooling! What you think what the FX8120 will reach with an 4.8GHz clockspeed? I would say he'll burn that CPU! The WEI in Windows 7 and Windows 8 in the same Machine with identical HDD's (SATA 3) is in all points the exact same, NO difference.
LOL. 88° at 4ghz with your FX4100 ? And with watercooling ? Do You live in the desert ? 4.8ghz is quite common with Bulldozers, people even reach 5/5.1ghz with better batches/cooling.
Not in a desert, in Thailand. Normal temperature on day is 32+ Celsius up to 42!! At this moment it's 36.4 Celsius and it's not high season! My old 6 Core 1100T BE has a normal temp of 52-54 Celsius using a Zalman fan but overclocking. And I'm thinking to go for an FX 4170 and an FX 8150 the next few weeks. The MB i use for the FX is an ASRock Fatalyti 990

My WEI scores for win 8 pro x64 are as follows (brackets are win 7 scores): processor8.5 (7.9) memory8.5 (7.9) Graphic7.7(7.7) gaming graphic7.7 (7.7) primary hard disk8.1 (7.9) Considering that the max is 9.9, and I have a 3930K overclocked to 4.1 Ghz (not much), I wonder which CPU would go to 9.9 or even cross 9.0 (Xeon server class or i7-3960X perhaps) Further, SSDs used to get max 7.9 in win 7 but my Intel SSD 520 120GB gets only 8.1/9.9!!. Overall, I get the same score as in win 7 which is 7.7. This is because of graphics which get the same score in win 7 and win8.
