omg thank you w00t I was using the other apps and they shows me the wrong codes. thus I been backing up the wrong codes. Im so glad I haven't wipe clean this machine yet.
Someone tell me please what block in the uefi the product key is recorded on on a Win8-preinstalled one. Thanx.
So does this work with the versions of Windows 8 that come preinstalled, as well as the RTM and MSDN copies being installed via DVDs etc? UPDATE Should have updated the 1st post guy.. Whats the difference between the key in the registry and the MSDM? (semi-answered) If there are two, which one is actually activating the machine? (debatably asnwered) I suppose MSDM keys are installed with OEM machines? (Answered)
Thanks for helping Carlos. Found this in the post you linked me. So, your conflicting here- It appears yen is saying that the system gets activated by comparing the MSDM table "key" and hardware hash with the one on M$ servers and if matched, its activated. But your saying, the key in the registry activates it and the MSDM table "key" is used for editions selection during installation. So if am not asked for a key and its they key IN the registry that activates the machine, how does the key get there?
The key is in BIOS/firmware. After Windows is installed using that key, it is also placed in registry.
