Hi, Someone that have Windows Blue installed on PC (not virtual machine) can confirm that in Windows Experince Index the HDD has a higher score than 5.9 ? Beacuse in VMware I rated my computer and the Primary HDD has 6.7 and I don't have any SSD in my system. Thanks you!
You could get higher tan 5.9 with using of an SAS Drive or ans SCSI 15000rpm drive! Not with an SATA 3 drive or below!
I don't have a SAS Drive or SCSI and my HDD is SATA 3 and the motherboard supports SATA 2...But I think that is a VMware bug. Ia have Seagate Baracuda 1 TB 64 MB
It won't die because of me - MS removed 16 bit program support from x64, and I still use a few 16bit specialist dictionaries and many more 32bit programs that won't istall and run properly under the x64 "windows on windows" 32 bit emulation. RAM is no problem - I have 16 GB of RAM and still can utilize all of it under x86 - all it takes is to change merely 10 bytes in the kernel (I've described the procedure in detail in the Windows 7 forum).
Btw note that while that skin will work somewhat with 3.5.0, it may look weird because the Aero colorization was tuned for Windows 8 in CS 3.6.0 and glass was replaced by simple transparency, like the Taskbar. Wait till CS is updated.
I'm not sure and I'm not a specialist for VMWare. It's possible that the Index for the HDD speed in VMWare is better because it's using not real physical HDD (even it does in reality but the apps) and that could give a different Index Speed. I run VitualBox, just installed today, and was just try to get the Index for the Windows new Beta but that will not work! Will check later on VM Workstation which I also have installed on my Laptop but use it because could not get it to work with Internet (NO time for deep check at the moment what's the problem with driver!).
So I installed the Beta in VM Workstation 9 at my laptop Component normal VMWare Processor 6.9 6.8 Memory (RAM) 7.4 7.6 Graphics 5.8 2.0 Gaming graphics 6.3 3.0 Primary hard disk 5.9 6.4 As you could see the differences, the HDD used in that Laptop is an WD 750GB SATA 2 5400rpm So, I really think that's because of the virtual HDD used in VMWare.
I'm not going to bite on Blue. I'm a desktop user with no interest in ever touching displays. Proprietary app stores suck no matter who offers them. Open source and shareware do everything I need.
NO, I didn't installed those Tools yet. Just started to install because I need for some reason XP running and those I would do with VMWare. Found out that the driver for the Network didn't works with XP (XP is to old and no driver exist for that build in network card on laptop). So I stopped and installed VirtualBox and was getting the Internet to run on XP. Just was testing now with the Blue Beta the Index because of the post of member maxb2000. But will install the tools later, if I get the Internet working with VMWare Workstation 9.
Update does not work yet in 9364... It says there are 2 updates available but when you try to download them it gives an error. Both updates are for defender.
Interesting. My test VM has successfully installed three Defender definition updates ... from my local WSUS (it's a domain member). Attempting to install from Microsoft shows nothing available (obviously, they already installed from WSUS); clicking "get updates for other Microsoft products" gives a peculiar "you must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later" error message. If Microsoft thinks 11 is less than 5, that explains a lot. Might be that Firefox browser string I read about somewhere yesterday.
I have Windows 8 Pro legal installed on my machine and Beta Blue on WM...All themes and settings from W8 are instantly imported on Windows Blue, while I am connected with my Windows Live ID....
