Second what Paul say's. On the other hand, is the start menu really needed? You could easy just place one from within the lower systembar. It has also the advantage that I could separate the 32bit and 64bit apps while creating one new start menu for Program Files and another for Program Files (x86). There quite a bit "tweaks" which could be done with the lower systembar!
this is exactly i was thinking....MS strategy to disallow very popular 3rd party programs by placing a useless start button, btw now developers need to do one extra step i.e. to remove MS crap button then placing their own with Start Menu
