Hi, it was said that it's possible to install posready 2009 on NTFS or FAT32 partition. But in all cases, NTFS only is offered (not just suggested). I tried to look if another option is possible, but no. Is there a way to install on a FAT32 partition? Please. Thanks.
Hi guys! Just tried POSready 2009 and I'm very impressed so I decided to stick with it. Still got a few questions because some things are difficult to understand and documentation about certain subjects concerning this OS is hard to find and the stuff I managed to find seems incomplete... I have the evaluation ISO file and I would like to use a bootable USB stick to install the OS instead of the iso. The official documentation from Microsoft mentions this option, but I cant find any clear instructions that explain how to do this. Can someone here explain how to proceed ? Then there is the drivers issue. I would like to integrate mass storage and other drivers (driverpacks: http__driverpacks_net/) but I don't know how to do this. Does one have to create a real big xml file that mentions all of the hundreds of drivers contained in the driverpacks individually to make it work or is there a better option ?
Hi. Has anyone tried to install the Tablet PC components on PosReady 2009 ? I'm going to try by myself but any previous experience would be greatly appreciated.
I reply to myself. Yes it's possible, I just did it. . No major differences from the usual procedure meant for XP Pro, other than the stock login keyboard that will be killed by the Tablet PC 2005 components, but is easy to fix, just remove it from optional windows components, reboot, and readd it (and reboot again).
excellent - and what about updates? and also... The tab "automatic updates" is missing on the sytem properties... So I cannot select "notify etc..." any ideas? I tried to see that with gpedit.msc, no way. Thanks for your help.
Restoring WFP I want to restore Windows File Protection so that I can use the System File Checker to remedy System Restore not working on both of my POSREADY 2009 partitions. All the prerequisites for WFP appear to be present in my installations of POSREADY 2009 a follows: 1. The dll cache is present at %windir%\system32\dllcache which is populated by 221 files. 2. The following files necessary for WFP are present in the system32 folder: sfc.dll sfc_os.dll sfcfiles.dll. They have the same version number 5.1.2600.551 as the same files in XP Pro. 3. The SFCDisable value in the registry is set to 0 4. The Remote Proceedure Call service is started automatically. When I restore sfc.exe from an XP Home installation and attempt to run sfc /scannow I get this message: Windows File Protection could not initiate a scan of protected system files. The specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable]. Using Sysinternals Process Explorer in an XP Home installation I opened the Winlogon.exe Properties and then the Threads tab which had these entries: TID=736 sfc_os.dll+0xc80b TID=740 sfc_os.dll+0xc54e TID=744 sfc_os.dll+0xc54e These entries are not present when I run Process Explorer on my POSREADY 2009 installation. I assume the embedded versions of XP Pro use a special version of winlogon.exe that will not activate WFP. I tried replacing the winlogon.exe (version 5.1.2600.5678) in my POSREADY 2009 installation with the winlogon.exe (version 5.1.2600.5512) from an XP Pro CD, but after loging in, I get an error message saying that there was an error retrieving authentication code and I am returned to the logon screen. Does anyone think that it would be possible to hack the XP Pro winlogon.exe to bypass licence authentication? Alternatively, it may be possible to use the winlogon.exe from Windows 2000.
