Error installing from original evaluation CD! I started installation from original public free evaluation CD. After the ~"press key for console" window vanished, there was blue background screen with white mouse arrow and there was CD and HDD access every few seconds.... After 6 hours (!) waiting I ejected the CD, but the setup kept its HDD access, no error message appeared, still blue background with white mouse arrow, nothing else. Is the eval dead? What is it good for?
Check your POSReady 2009 iso file. Mine is 678625280 bytes and installs correctly (in a VMware virtual machine). If necessary, redownload the iso and make a fresh install CD, then try again.
How to set a schedule for automatic defrag? also has anyone been able to use 4gb ram for this? also does this have Remote Desktop application? thanks

Thanks hanzzon2 Next questions ---- > Has anyone any experience with XP Embedded builder from elbacom.com/embedded/products/tools/xpebuilder ? Or any similar program ? And where i can download it / them please ?
I installed windows embedded POSReady2009 twice , put some programs in and then ran JV16 registry cleaner and it killed all the links between files and programs . For instance when i clicked on an .exe it asked me what program to use to open it .
Since POSReady2009 is supported for some more years, will be interested to see if my WSUS can get updates for it. If so, I can probably figure out how to edit the install rules so that they apply to the unsupported XP Pro.
Was doing some reading last night and found some info about companies setting up a WSUS to support their POS systems, so maybe the updates will be there. "POS" is not a supported product but "embedded" is. Won't be wasting any time on it, if updates appear, I will look at them but no extra effort to find them. I have one machine I can't get rid of, it's running a software that uses a hardware license dongle on the parallel port and the company that made it went kaput years ago. I stripped windows down to only what was needed to boot and run that one program, no browser or email, and hardcoded it with no gateway so it can't communicate past the firewall, so it should be safe.

Same for me, I type Administrator to username and password I typed on setup to password. It don't let me in. edit: Be careful about keyboard layout. Unlike Windows PE used on later systems like vista, setup always uses English keyboard layout, not your selected one. This fixed my problem.
