My friend has a laptop and he's forgotten his log in password. He doesn't have any other accounts set up so can he use this tool to retieve his account password without actually first logging in?
No, this tool cannot be used... There is a program called ophcrack with deals with password recovery. For password reset you can try Offline NT password & Registry Editor. For Bypass, there is Konboot version 1.1.
