DISABLE UAC, and try again. It won't give you the "need permission" warning anymore. drag the slider to th minimum.

Why it does for me ???

I used a .bat file to make it available on every file. If you use the right mouse button on a file and click on take ownership.

That app can only save files in 16bit. Can't handle 32bit files.
    Anolis or Restorator both can.

ok i tried the methods posted here and i succesfully installed the new shellbrd.dll but the windows logo remains blank. the bmp files are resized to original bmp files size and saved as 32bit bmp using adobe photoshop as well. original bmps replaced with restorator 2007

so everything done correctly but blank logo

so if you guys could upload the final shellbrd.dll it would be better and many users would get rid of the time needed to do it.

This tool is required when u want to edit files with a resource hacker. It enables the use of custom themes (and therefor edited/modded exe and dll files, or things like aero.msstyles, shell32.dll, etc...).

Editing files like shellbrd.dll won't work without this patch.

That is why the "need permission" message keeps popping up when saving.

For instance changing your progressbars to blue or black, a well known mod for win7, requires the use of this patch. Installing custom themes requires the use of the patch.
I totally forgot that you need to use the patch first, before using restorator.

It only needs to be installed once, and u can do everything you want with shell32.dll, explorer.exe, aero.msstyles, or any other file you want to mod with a resourcehacker.
