    Server 2008 R2 won't activate with OA 2.0 key/slic
    Server 2008 R2 release needs OA 2.1 key/slic which currently are still unavailable

    it installed a BIOS loader for vista that wont work on 2008

    use the Windows Vista Activation Tool Kit 1.6 to load the BIOS

    Hi... how can i get Dell BIOS emu working for SBS 2008?

    If i use VistaBasicLoader it wont let me boot into Server... it takes me to some boot loader saying that Vista is univalible and i had to reinstall Server

    kanga202,

    have you added the line "find --set-root /bootmgr" to you bootmanager? At least SBS2008 did start on my machine, but wasn't able to inject a proper SLIC with Vista Loader Basic. Not sure if this is an issue with my Intel board or SBS2008.
    I did have a quick try with Wow 6. This injects a HP-SLIC, so you need to apply a HP certificate to your SBS manually. Although the bootloader came up with a "division by zero" error, after a reboot SBS says it is activated. Let's see if it still works after the next reboot of my box.

    Hey negotiator, Thanks for responding.

    Have to start out by saying... I’m not stupid...just new lol

    so I have a the Dell SBS cert and key... both of which I have installed ok.

    but if I run the install.cmd that’s where the problems start. so where do I put "find --set-root /bootmgr"

    when I get the loader error on reboot? does this just make it ignore looking for a specific OS?

    Yeah it seems everyones quiet on it... with no real tuts out there.

    There is a thing called VistaLoaderBasic... which mods the BIOS... but im not sure what the trick is to getting it working with SBS 08

    Most Dell BIOS's can't be modded.
    So its very unlikely you'll be able to mod it. :(

    But if your lucky it may have a SLIC in there already, check the stickies in the Vista Forum, therses one about Dell Tags.

    Do the OEM keys work on both x86 and x64 enterprise (with moded bios) W2K8SP2?

    Answer (edited): yes, I just tested it my self after solving some BIOS mode issues!

    The MSDNAA keys are 1 time MAK keys only for standard and enterprise versions. Even if you install datacenter version your license provided by the key is just for enterprise or standard edition.

    With an enterprise key you get only enterprise features.

    It means you can activate windows only 1 time using that key. The next time you reinstalll windows it won't activate anymore with that key.

    I've used such a key from MSDNAA and that's what happend. If you want to see how many activations a MSDNAA MAK key has left you could use The Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT) from Microsoft.

    It's possible if your H/W remains the same when activation.

    KMS and MAK keys come in three levels.
    A = web server
    B = standard and enterprise
    C = datacenter and itanium

    A KMS key will activate everything at its level and below. A MAK will only activate the specific level.

    Thus, the MAK key you're getting will work for standard and enterprise, not datacenter.
