I took my last shot at using this app to install the WSE2016 on Server 2022 Standard (Desktop Experience) on a External SSD. This time I didn't do anything after running the app, just restarted the PC/SSD. I went through after seeing no WSE2016 Dashboard, I searched for it... nothing. Installed the features that were listed on the WSEE documents, still no joy. attached is the WinToUSB choices this last time.
Thanks for the tip KleineZiege. I tried Rufus 4.3 it installed Server 2022 fine (in the Windows To Go image option) but the WSEE failed to accomplish the WSE2016 Dashboard task again. The Rufus Standard Windows Installation (image option) failed on the MS Windows Server 2022 install as it doesn’t want to install “to disks connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port”. *Now I am wondering if those having success using the WSEE app. are getting what I am expecting to see (attached WSE2016 dashboard).
Posted by Cain57 "I just learned that WSEE will not allow you to install a TLD (.com, .net, etc.), it only allows .local domains. You can by-pass this by manually setting up an AD Domain Service role, when you first start WS 2019 or WS2022. Then you can start WSEE and it will pick up right after the domain setup part, it detects that an AD Domain has already been installed." "I've tested and retested it on WS 2022 Standard. It still works great! I'm very happy we can still use it!"
Native vhdx made the whole point of WHS and derivatives completely useless. Running them today is just a way to waste resources, just to do things in a more complicate way...
@pm67310 : Thank you. I am installing and Updating WSE2016 for capturing and building wim file. Has someone tested this WSEE wim and Script from github on Windows Server 2025 preview? Something special to obtain?
Run fines on 2019 2022 and 2025 Install server 2025 Add fixed ip create domain with level 2016 ( you can upgrade later to level 2025 ) Install wsee essential After you have to retrieve it from server essential 2016 here ! WindowsServerEssentials-Events.xml in the “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Event Viewer\Views\ServerRoles then paste it in ( server 2019 ou 2022 or 2025 ) here “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Event Viewer\Views\ServerRoles After install you can upgrade to level 2025
@pm67310 : No way for a clean install of 2025? Do I always have to do an update using a prior version?
