I have a Problem using WSEE on latest Windows 2025. It seems everything is fine, but I am NOT able to add a user. Using the Essentials Dashboard there is an Error when I want to add a user which tells: The Task add user account was not succesful. If I add a User via AD Administration of Servermanager (which is possible) it is not showing up as User in Essentials Dashboard. If I click on Update, it gives my an Error telling the Service for User is out of order.

See Screenshots of both message from Dashboard.

Someone with the same Problem? Any hint what to do?

Maybe it has something to do with having raised Domain level to 2025 after installation?

    Thank you.

Solved by not raising AD-Level to 2025.

I am trying to move shared folders using WSE-Dashboard to external Drive but it stops at enabeling shadow copies and nothing happens anymore.

    What can I do?

I can not delete the folders (button to delete not shown for this folders) and recreate it as new on external drive. So I have to move them.

Is it possible to set the default domain and forest mode to win2016 (for example in registry) so that the WSEE Tool for installation/konfiguration can be run without errors but not necessary to add AD-Role with level 2016 before manually?

I know. But WSEE will create it on its own normally. The Problem here with Server 2025 that per default it tries to create an AD with level 25 but is only compatible with level 16.so i have to create a domain with level 16 manually before running wsee.

My question is wether i can only srt default functional level to 16, not create fomain but stsrt WSEE which then will create AD level 16 on its own.

    Is this possible?

Sorry, where is the "configuration assistant?" Do you mean the WSEE-Setup.ps1?

I used 2022 and it is working perfectly, is it a straight upgrade in a workgroup setup? I am a novice when it comes to Server installation.

I have a Queation and Problem of understanding in using/installing WSEE on Windows Server 2025:
Everything works as described here. But if I create an AD with Level 2016 before starting WSEE-Setup.ps1 the WSEE assistant which guides throug the konfiguration of WSEE Setting at first start will skipthe Domain settings and so on. So in the end I have the AD-Domain as created before and always have to logonon Domain.

If WSEE-Setup ran on a Windows Server 2022 machine which has AD default functional level 2016 the Assistanf does not skip AD konfiguration. It creates a local Domain on itself asks for a username and password, creates a local account with this credentials deactivates the initial Administrator account and default logon is without domain, but on local server.

I am more familiar with this second confirguration as I used it in the passt many years. I have rad that default AD functional level is alway highest Version.
So how is it possible to set default functional level to 2016 without creating an AD itself but then using WSEE-Setup and its initial WSEE-Assistant to create local Domain, User account and so on?

I tried to upgrade to Windows Server 2025 from 2022, but it wants to delete everything including Apps, does that include the essentials addon?

If you not raise the AD functional level to 2025 there is no problem with adding user accounts.
