Just says YOU don't know much!

Well, for ME, there's no equivalent DOCKING application for my Web Cams... I've got a couple, keeping tabs on the garage, front door, etc.

Is the 64 bit version around anywhere? Checked the original 3 links and looked a few pages back, but all are dead. Can someone reup?

Is the 8gadgetpack just an installer that does the steps from the OP or is it some different way of getting gadgets working?

    Cheers

What exactly is the 8 Gadget Pack?
Is it the actual program files from Windows 7 Gadgets?
Or is it a different software that installs gadgets that are similar to Microsoft's Windows 7 Gadgets?
As for example there are programs that install both Windows Sidebar and gadgets on windows XP but they are not the same software as the Microsoft programs.
Just software that gives you a sidebar on Windows XP that looks like the Windows Sidebar on Windows Vista.
But it's not exactly the same.

Don“t believe it is that simple, as some files have to be registered.

Windows Sidebar from Windows Vista worked with or ran off of Windows Gadgets on Windows 7 and Windows 8 RP.So it worked.
On Windows 8 Pro which I have not yet installed, there is no Windows Gadgets,as they have removed it.
So it could be that even if I copied over both Windows & Gadgets and Windows Sidebar files from Windows 7 and Windows Vista. It may not work because of this.

I use 8gadgetpack for a while now, but since 2-3 versions before until now, I am experiencing application crashes once in 2 to 3 times... Does anyone know why or what should I do? Thanks...

Same for me on a clean install of Win 8 Pro 64

About 50% of the time it crashes on start-up, I right click desktop and "Show Desktop Gadgets" option to close, then run them again to fix.

I turned them off with task manager and start them again. It is happening from earlier versions. Has anyone a suggestion on how to solve this?

I finally disabled them from starting at boot. I created a desktop shortcut to C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe and run it manually after the OS is up.

Recycle bin gadget does not appear on start up. I have to add this manually every time i boot. It's a bit annoying.

    What Recycle are you using?

All I did to get gadgets working was went to win2008r2workstation.com/sidebar/ I then made a folder in windows/system32/ called "files" (well it keep telling me if could not find some script..so I put all files where it was looking.) took the files from the zip in the folder "files" to the new windows/system32/files and ran the install. Everything runs great Rebooted tried different gadgets.. still boots up all working.

Well I installed Windows 8 pro for the first time about a week ago. I tried copying both the Windows Sidebar and Vista Sidebar program files from Windows Vista and 7 onto 8. But sadly nether the sidebar or the gadgets would run.

I thought the Windows 7 Gadgets would work on windows 8 if I copied the files from my Windows 7 other but no luck I am afraid. Though they did worked in Windows 8 RP but not now. It seems that Microsoft has blocked Windows 7 Gadgets from running on Windows 8.
