SBS08 Activation works but it shouldn't?

I am using the new ASUS Z8NA-D6 server motherboards.
I simply ran the slmgr.vbs -ipk with the Rosewood serial
then the slmgr.vbs -ilc ASUS.xrm-ms (that i got from the web and placed on my c:Drive...) got a cryptic error.
rebooted and now I show activated and no genuine issues.

any ideas why this seemed to work?

i did nothing more than what is stated above, no bios hackery etc.

should i be concerned this activation may be temporary?

Were you running an elevated command prompt?

Logged in as admin is not the same as running an elevated prompt. Click start, type command, right click on the command prompt shortcut and choose run as administrator. Say yes to the UAC prompt and then re-run the commands.

And what SLIC do you have in your Vmware?
You might want to look in Virtualization section for needed BIOS files

    Exchange 2007 in SBS2008

    Hi there,

just read everything carefully and managed to bring my SBS 2008 up to activated status. I was now trying to bring the rest up. Now I am wondering that the Exchange Console tells me that the Key is not valid. Is this normal?

Did I do someting wrong, or do I have to look for another solution?

    Thanks a lot

Out of curiosity, I'm about to tackle an install of SBS 2008. When using this method do you still need to purchase legit CAL'S and will or won't they work with this method? Or am I missing this entirly and they would not be needed (Would love but find highly unlikely lol).

SBS 2008 does not track CALs.

I apologize in advance for my English. My native language is Spanish. ;)

I have two DELL PowerEdge Servers one is a T310 and other is R510.
    1) The T310 was shipped with SBS 2008 Std pre-installed in Espanish (ES)
    2) The another machine (R510) that didn't ship with SBS.

I installed SBS 2008 on the R510 using DELL one copy (was copied on Alcohol 120%) the DVD orginal. Now on my OS It's saying I have a 60-day grace period.

I download file dell.oem.sbs2008.7z by Rosewood post and I execute the following indications by Colinr post. In this order

    1) As an administrator, run cmd
    2) Type slmgr.vbs -ipk (key by Rosewood), press enter
    3) Then the system informed me that the key was updated.
    4) Type slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\dell.t300.sbs2008.oem
    5) And show me a windows error. (Execute 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xBBA' to show error text. Error: 0xBBA)

I don't really understand that to do with the file ACPISLIC.sbs2008dell.t300.bin ??
Can anybody suggest a reason why this is not working for me?

NOTE: In my copy from original DELL media DVD I found files PID.txt and PKYCONFIG.XRM-MS and PID.txt show the same key posted by Rosewood

Ok, with the key installed and updated, see if you can't just activate now.

You may be able to activate with what you have already done. Give it a try.

Now I know better. My BIOS came without enabling SLIC tables because came without pre-installed Server 2008. Thanks frwil !!!!

You offer me the following options.
    1) Enable SLIC in BIOS
    2) Emulate it with loader

I have searched for the DELL SERVICE TAG TOOL and I haven't found results however I think this tool is for change service tag from BIOS DELL.

I too have searched and not found either BIOS MOD DELL R510. I've been reading about how to mod dell Bios guide from this post /7517-How-to-Mod-Dell-BIOS-Guide by rtfm

And I guess its works to BIOS came with preinstalled OS because it must be looking for "windows" text with WinHex program than if I look for this in my BIOS it should not find anything.

Emulate it with loader ….hmmm. I do not think that is good idea because it sometimes fails especially when updates are doing.

I tried to look for SLIC table with program RwV1.4.8.5 and this is result, not even said SLIC version
    Code:
    Software Licensing Description Table: 0xCF6B3A3C
