Not gonna happen man. You need at least a 160GB drive, during install it gets partitioned into a 100MB boot partition, a 60GB system partition and the rest for storage.
SBS 2011 partitions like WHS 2011 does, not like Server 2008 R2, so you can't specify partitions manually during install.
How likely is the intended user of the product (SB) run dual boot on the server? But if you must, then install to full drive, reboot to something else (WinPE, Hirem's etc) and repartition & install the second OS sebus
did you see the requirements if your going to try it and don't need support for more than 25 users then essentials would work and requires less ram than standard
SBS 2011, SBE 2011, WSSE 2011 and WHS 2011 are either 'Storage' or 'Communications' servers. As such they MUST be running 24/7, otherwise theres no point running them. Hence theres no format options. Having said that, running them on Multi-Boot systems is exactly the same as running any other OS's. You just have to install them in the right order. (As Sebus pointed out) e.g. On my 'Demo' laptop I now have: WSSE 2011, Windows 7 Ent. Vista Business, Mac OSX 10.6 multi booting. With WinXP Pro, Vista Business, Windows 7 Ent. and Mac OSX 10.6 running in as VM's which can be accessed by all OS's.
I don't dual boot anymore, just a hassle. The best way to do it is to install on separate disks and just chose your boot priority at startup via F12 or whatever your board calls for. Right now I am running WHS 2011. with Thin PC VM client for my torrent box. All the WHS host does is backup, file server and media shares.
I know what you mean. The more boot options you have the less useful the PC is. But who ever said Demo devices were useful.
Just a suggestionj, worth adding a placeholder for SBS 2011 SLP keys as per other servers: Small Business Server 2011 *****-OEM-******* _____________________ None found May reduce the number of requests for a key?!
From the screenshot it is from a Microsoft Action Pack - its like a TechNet / MSDN Subscription. Either purchased or stolen?! Lilimted number of activations for various Microsoft Products.
When a key is available one of the mods will add is to the sticky. Untill someone teaches the newer members how to read or use a forum, we'll have to put up with the key requests.
Hi All, I'm new. Any update on this? Would like to be able to permantly activate my product without having to constantly re-arm it.
No news I'm afraid, just keep checking back. Or buy an HP / DELL server with SBS pre-installed and share the key yourself.
