I installed WP on MBR only system and (tested 2 times) not one issue, and it was made with UltraISO then added boot.bif boot and installed, dual boot now with Pro and Ent have installed on UEFI/GPT only same USB never any issue....
sorry but i dis read the posts. nowhere in there did it say anything about creating the EFI and MSR partitions in there, so please don't sound so condescending. i read all the posts and don't offer help unless i know what i'm talking about.
Hello Everyone, I'm back, had a good sleep and feeling way better now... Yes, Even I didn't want to mess with the Bios, but even with these settings I was not able to boot from/to Win10 after repeated attempts, and since Win10 should install for UEFI+GPT Systems also, we thought to try that out as well... Besides, from the conclusion we have reached; my System doesn't support Virtualization as pointed out by my friend Chaser above so that could have been the real culprit... and then we are left with the one solution installing to a VM. i had read earlier people suggesting to to install Tech Previews on VM's only rather than having at main boot but I wanted to have it as main boot, and that's why all this adventure
not really. just like to install things the way i like them not the way MS thinks i'd like them. SIM comes in handy among other things.
i know his problem is a little different, but i couldn't install on my Gigabyte H61M-S2H from a USB drive. Have to use a dvd. anyways i never use the setup anyways i always apply my images because it doesn't matter if disk is MBR or UEFI. plus it's a lot quicker.
have you tried installing on a second partition? haven't seen anything in the posts that suggest this. if you have success with that you can then delete the windows 8.1. also if your going to try it in a VM i suggest Vmware. Virtualbox is having problems. some have had success and some have not. i'm one of the havenots. or you can do it through Windows, but i myself don't like using MS's virtualization. just preference.
You'd really have to go back through the entire thread to see all the different errors and problems that he's had. Many more than what you just listed and asked about.... Chaser
Hey buddy! Well done, at least you got to see it in action on your computer system!! If you added more ram to your system, say for a total of 8GBs, the response would probably be much better, and of course, if you used a SSD, you'd hardly see any lag at all, because you have a decent cpu on the laptop..... Anyway, I'm glad you got your first taste of TP, and how it works. Who knows, it might motivate you to purchase another laptop in the near future.... Don't work too hard this week. And keep us updated when you can, yes? I've been spending the evening installing and trying out a program that is new to me called Popcorn Time. You might want to check into that and see if it works in your country...... Take care! Chaser
Hey Chaser, Seems like you are having an interesting evening with the program "Popcorn Time" sounds really cool I'll definitely try myself Besides, as a matter of fact I have been in the mood of buying a new Laptop for myself and will pass on the current lappi to my little sis. And I'm have been searching around to find one with my needs: Basically, I'm looking for an affordable Lappi with these config: Brand: ASUS\Lenevo\Samsung (Neither Dell Nor HP) FHD Display (15.6"): Most important thing and on my top list. i5 processor, 4+ GB of RAM, great if it has SSD(at-least 20GB where I can install Windows.) DOS Operating System (it must have DOS as don't wanna spend any money for S\W rather I'll look for better H\W) Graphics Card : Not that a big concern Basically, I don't play games much, in fact very less or I should say zero ;P on my Lappi. Basically I love trying out new S\W's all the time, in fact live on them. So, I would love if You have anything in mind or any suggestion on these.
Good Morning!! Well, it's morning here, anyway.. I have come to VERY much like the Popcorn Time program!! I have no trouble getting TV show episodes that I like, but it's getting difficult to find new release movies using the method I use. There is a part of the Internet called 'Usenet' which I use a lot, but there are starting to be restrictions on it, and it's difficult to get a real movie these days. A lot of people put up files that say they are a movie, but when you download them, and open the archive, it just turns out to be a virus waiting to be launched. It never used to be that way, but you know how it is, things change. So anyways, I'm very much enjoying Popcorn Time now, while it lasts!! There will probably come a day when the 'powers that be' shut it down, but for now, I think it's a good program. So, back to your computer thoughts..... I'm going to send you a Private Message with some thoughts, and perhaps that will help you to decide on a new laptop, or lappi I guess you all call them in India. When I hear that word here in the US, I think of someone going to a nightclub and getting a lap dance. hahahaaha.... A small joke... Anyways, check your private message and see what you think. Until later, take care then! Chaser
"DOS Operating System (it must have DOS as don't wanna spend any money for S\W rather I'll look for better H\W)" You'll never find a current laptop with DOS. But I understand your point. So what you want is a laptop with Ubuntu.
When you open a cmd prompt, and type in the command "Dir", or "List", what kind of commands are those, if not DOS? They have been around since before Windows was invented. I used those DOS commands on a Commodore 64 when there was no user GUI (Windows), but only a CLI ... Command Line Interface. Everything you did had to be typed with some sort of DOS command. Even activating and using my brand new gadget, something called a 14.4 baud modem, had to be used via DOS commands. As I recall, the closest thing to a GUI was a program called Directory Opus, where you could create buttons to do certain things... but in creating buttons, you had to provide the DOS command that you wanted to perform. So, I respectfully disagree when you say that a computer with DOS is not to be had now days. DOS is still there, burried very deep under the GUI of the Windows shell. The DOS commands have evolved over the years, and new ones developed, however, it is still there, holding up Windows.... It's not my place to speak for Abhishek, but I do not believe he desires any form of Linux on his computer, not at this point in his education.... I could be wrong, but I think that is a path he is not willing to travel at this point in time.. Chaser
