Problem : I hit "Check for Updates" and it says "We Couldn't connect to the updater service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it doesn't work, make sure you are connected to the internet and I'm online hardwired cable into my netgear router. I've looked all over youtube and i never found it. It's been doing this for about 2 weeks i have no idea how to fix it ;c
Youtube is nowadays the first place you look when having win troubles? I know this is a harsh solution but try this: Stop the windows update service in services.msc Delete the "softwaredistribution" folder in c:\windows\ Start the windows update service The folder will be created automaticly Search for updates again
You may want to try WSUS Offline Update v10.6.2. This program will download and install all the updates. We don't need to use Windows Update. I did use this program instead of Windows Update.
It can be one solution but it doesn't solve the problem itself atm, maybe after installing an update seperatly (downloaded by any means) the original problem will be solved.
This is correct in my case. I had problems of updates with 3 machines running Windows 7 and different versions of Office (2007, 2010, 2013).
I got the same problem a few days ago. I was reinstalling Windows on a newly built PC, and I wasn't installing correctly the GPT partition. Once I formatted the HD in GPT and Windows 10 on it, everything went smoothly. You should check the Windows Update Throubleshoulder and see what kind of errors it says. Also check your time settings in the BIOS and Windows.
Disable your anti virus and try again, reset your router and modem (usually just disconnect power for a few seconds) or run WSUS Offline Update. My current copy of WSUS is a couple of months old, but once a set of updates were installed, my WU problems went way. No idea why, but I'm sticking with offline updates. Windows 7 built-in updater is just too wonky to keep trying to use.
1: modem DNS issue or windows host file. 2: malware or telemetry disabled in pc. 3: windows update agent and kb3153199(oops for win 7?) need installed.
And for actually troubleshooting the issue you would run "Get-WindowsUpdateLog" on PowerShell and inspect the log file for error messages or error codes.
It looks like a firewall is blocking updates... Try resetting the Netgear, restart the pc and try it again... If it still doesn't work, make sure port 443 isn't blocked...
deleted all my group policy settings and firewall configuration without prompting. pls help me restore. 1/10, would not run again. /s
Of course I only emulated the batch file it in my head instead of actually running it, but I know plenty of people aren't able (or smart enough) to do so. What I was saying in a sarcastic way is that it's really a crappy idea of a fix nobody should actually try to run. You just missed the sarcasm indicator.
Yup. That would be the '/s' at the bottom. Another way to say it would be: "I ran that script and I had no problems at all" /ID10T!
