    Maybe disabling Orchestrator service UsoSvc helps?

    Thanks for the suggestion. However, after I set Update Service Orchestrator to disabled when I start WUMT it asks me if I want to "Run the Windows Update Service now?" Huh? The Windows Update service (wuauserv) is currently set to Manual and is Running. Anyway if I click Yes then WUMT sets Update Service Orchestrator back to Manual and opens. For now there just does not seem to be away to get Automatic Updates disabled in Windows 10 Home but yet leave the Windows Update service available for WUMT to use exclusively. This is easily accomplished in Windows 10 Pro by changing Automatic Updates policy to Disabled.

    Good evening
    To manage updates optimally through MiniTool, I have to disable automatic updates of Windows Update through the registry key?
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
    "NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000001
    Thank you

    I only have Home on a laptop, and by following what I've posted, I've never had WU installing things on it's own (except for automatically searching for drivers after 1511, because that option was removed from the GUI and reenabled in registry to "1"), except if I forcefully check for updates under the WU GUI. Else, it'll simply drop a notification when there are updates, so I'll use WUMT instead of WU.
    On Pro systems I usually use a shortcut pointing to "UsoClient.exe StartScan" to let windows search for updates and notifying if it finds anything new, so that "Download" button will appear instead of auto-downloading (as the "check for updates" button will always start downloading, even with the notify policy set). But if the same command is run under Home, it'll start downloading anyway.

    Works fine for most editions of Windows 10. Notable exception is for Windows 10 Home where it is ignored.

    Is it normal for the tool to take ~20min when checking for updates, even in offline mode?

    For me in Windows 10 it usually takes 1-3 minutes. In Windows 8.1 10-20 minutes and in Windows 7 20-40 minutes. I see roughly the same time in each OS if I use Windows Update. After all both WUMT and WU use the same Microsoft update service (wuauserv) to check for updates. Is Microsoft try to tell us something?

    Exactly it uses Windows Update service.

    @ all
    Don't forget Windows Update MiniTool is just a front-end which manipulates or do its job making use of Windows Update and services. If Windows Update, services and M$ servers are slow for whatever reason wumt will reflect same behavior.
    Wumt is not a stand-alone Updates Downloader like WHDownloader for example.
