Hi and thanks for this great tool, I have 2 questions though: Where does it save downloaded updates? Is it possible to copy updated files to another PC and run WUMT on new PC to apply those updates in offline mode too? Thanks
<SystemDrive>:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download Just where Windows Update does. Windows Update MiniTool is an alternative for Windows Update, yet don't forget wumt is a front-end for WU, i.e., wumt is a enhanced interface for WU yet it still making use of all WU features plus some of its own. As for the collection of downloaded files and applying over another PC I don't think so, unless a more knowledgeable person says otherwise.
Appreciate your prompt reply. Maybe copying "\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" to another PC and running WUMT lets us install them...?
I understood your point since the first one, again I don't think so. Hey, but you can try and tell us?
.....Probably not, wunt will look first for pending updates, then will download and then install(if wish)....Get the WHD downloader if the intention is only download the updates (kb)....
I just wonder... ...how does MiniTool handle the situation, when WU "needs to update itself". Standard WUClient, has special procedure for this, notifying user, that "window will be closed and opened again". How does MiniTool proceed?
I have tried using WUMT to download and install the two most recent Windows 10 builds 14251 and 14257 and after downloading I get a prompt to restart. However, when I restart via the WUMT prompt the computer does not install the new build. It never shows Windows Updating during restart. It just simply restarts and returns to current Windows 10 build. I can eventually get WU to install the new build without having to download again, but that is somewhat redundant and aggravating. Any ideas?
Yeah, the reboot now button is what I used. I have tried to find a command line that will install updates and restart, in Windows 10. So far I have failed.
Hi There, I hope the authors of Windows Update MiniTool make some improvement in keyboard accessibility. Currently it's not possible to focus on, and/or press any button when using the tab key. Please improve the accessibility of the app...
What's exactly you don't? version 10586.0 is the actual base version for the OS and what reported by WU api cumulative updates only update some components of the OS, it doesn't make it whole new version and the number in winver is just for show up and to keep users happy with each new number
it doesn't handle, affect or update WU client i.e. for win7, it would still use the built-in WU engine in searching and updating, it won't install the 3 FeaturePack .cabs and the separate WUClient updates (KB3135443, KB3135445..) are handle like any other updates
You may find the answer in schedule tasks \Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator Code: usoclient.exe StartInstall MusNotification.exe Reboot
You know, non-Russian speakers need to ask questions Hope stupid user don't mind about this "mirror" thread lol
Yes I have poked around in there and have even tried various commands associated with the tasks. Today after downloading and "installing" prep files for build 14257, I ran MusNotification.exe Reboot in an Administrative command prompt window. Nothing happened. I will try the usoclient.exe StartInstall next time. So far the Restart now button is the only thing I have used that will actually perform the upgrade and restart of a new build successfully. Tried usoclient.exe StartInstall on 14271 and again nothing happened. The actions for these tasks in UpdateOrchestrator do not execute as expected from a command line. There must be other conditions that have to be met before they will execute properly . I am missing something here. I have even tried running them in a System command prompt and still nothing.
I downloaded the wsusscn2.cab file and put it in the same folder as wumt, but the program says it can't find the the file.
