windows validation i checked the site, but the info is not here anymore. is there any other place i can go or can u send them to me
Has anyone tried this with Windows XP Home (vs the first post says Pro)? And does is work with SP3? jcg
I tried this ap and it worked very well. All one needs is to follow the steps carefully. and it will resolve. Very good xpor1
So, if I have a SP2 CD (with some hotfixes set to apply when it installs), can I just install a new copy using the VLK generated in the first program, then apply the third and fourth programs, and that will allow me to get any available updates including SP3? I figure step 2 is not needed since the key will already be applied. I would slipstream SP3 into a CD, but I can't find my original SP2 CD and all I have is ones I made with hotfixes added. I read somewhere you couldn't slipstream with such a disc.
^Okay, I made a SP3 disc, but it didn't work for me. The generated key was not accepted in the installation, and the "original" key I had was not accepted either. I assume the SP3 setup had been updated with keys that were blacklisted since SP2 was released. However, by installing using a SP2 disc and then following the instructions in this thread, I got it working fine. Thanks.
I'm not sure if you meant to post elsewhere, but this thread is about Windows XP. I don't think the programs in the first post will work on Vista.
Running Check if Windows is Genuine returns Validation status: Genuine But three items remain unchanged: Download Center Code: Failed WGA: Failed to retrieve version Signed by: Unknown ............. Comments?
My own comment: Updating was possible, but afterwards, a warning was issued and when running validator, instead of Genuine it showed "VLK failed". But the three fields mentioned above now looked right. Running Make Win Genuine again fixed VLk and it read Genuine again. But, updating of OE7 failed again, and Genuine had been reset to VLK failed again. Any good ideas?
