asus xrm and slic After yet another crash of Vizta 64 I decided to a clean install of Vizta 32, without entering a key. My modded bios/asus slic worked always flawlessly. But after an (untouched) Viszta 32 install, I ran the whole vsb procedure with the of the only available Ult. key, I believe it ends with CC, a get all the success pop ups but the key in Vizta stays.the same ands so do m 30 days (now) 29. Any ideas?
Yes, thats what i meant by the whole vbs routine. First the certificate, reboot and than the serial. Is it possible that I have to flash the bios again now that I use V32 instead of V64?
QWorked Just to be sure, I ran the whole procedure again, and apparently now it worked . I don't know what went wrong in the first place, but thakx for the support!!
1. Run command for serial key 1st 2. Run command for certificate. No need to reboot..it should already be activated.

erm, i need some help here. I hav an acer notebook preinstall with vista home premium and i can't locate the cert file at the C:\windows\system32\oem, anyone can help? My notebook model is acer aspire 4920. Thanx in advance.
im not sure i understand what you mean when you say that the keys arent oem specific. does that mean i could use a hp vista ultimate key on a packard bell laptop (as they have no ultimate key)?
I am so lost... I have been reading the forums but I am a bit lost as to what to do... My laptop, an MSI EX625 already has SLIC in it's BIOS so I am covered there. I have been reading about making your own Vista OEM DVD but I need clarification. I have found an MSI cert, but I have read that the cert has to match the key or more specifically the key has to match the cert. I have looked at the cert and have been unable to locate any key, although I could have missed it. I have also looked for an MSI SLP key, but have been unable to locate one for MSI for the version of Vista that I have. I apologize, as I am sure the information is here somewhere. I have been looking but I need some definitive answers. Thanks in advance.
No, the cert does not have to match the key. The cert only has to match the SLIC. And you don't need to make a Vista OEM DVD either. Just install normally using the retail DVD. During installation you can choose to insert the product key or not. After Vista is installed, you will need to install the certificate: 1- Put the certificate file in the drive's root (for example: C:\ ) 2- Run Command Prompt as Administrator 3- Type the following and press Enter: slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\Certificate.xrm-ms (where "Certificate.xrm-ms" is the name of your cert file. Change it accordingly.) 4- Wait a few seconds for a confirmation saying that the cert was installed successfully. If you inserted the product key during installation, Vista should become activated (if it doesn't, just reboot). If you didn't insert the product key during installation, then you'll have to do it now: 1- Go to "System Properties" 2- Below you will see the option "Change product key". Click on it and insert your product key. 3- Vista should become activated.
i installed vista 64 ultimate on my packard bell, and i tried using the hp key. it says that it worked, but no success on the activation. im going to keep trying various things, but any ideas from others? thanks edit: heres what i did. everest reports slic is pacbel so i installed x64 vista ultimate (laptop came with home premium) and didnt input a key during install. after install (before anything else) i turned off uac, and then rebooted. then i ran command prompt as admin, installed the packardbell cert. after window popped up saying it worked, i installed the hp vista ultimate key. after that popped up, i rebooted again. then i checked activation status, and then key worked (its installed), but it still says 30 days left. ugh.
