thankyou! its all so simple when you know how and someone is willing to give a bit of a guide. thanks again!frwil
I have been reading and am confused about all this my computer skills are not the best but i can build a system and intall windows. I have an oem copy of vista home premium that i purchased with some hardware for a desktop computer I built and am now running this on my desktop. I also have an Acer Laptop that died and is not under warrany anymore and it has an OEM COA Key on the bottom, I bought another used laptop from a friend that he had the retail version of Vista home premium installed on but had formatted the drive and kept his retail copy of vista and sold me the laptop with no OS for a song. My question is can I use the Acer key with the OEM CD and that I purchased for my desktop and install and activate on the laptop that I bought, or do I need to buy another copy of windows vista?
Normally the ACER COA key is not supposed to work with any other laptop, (hardware-bound license and everything), so i would say it depends on whether or not MS are going to be asses about it. Trying it out is the only way to know for sure; if youre lucky they will let it slide and activate you anyway, if not...well...the worst thing that can happen is that the activation fails. Options in the latter case: Fresh Retail license in case you dont mind paying again, otherwise BIOS Mod or Loader for permanent SLP activation.
hello, thanks for the keys. I have a question a key oem nonslp is been worth for a single pc or in more pcs. thanks and regards.
