Hello! I am making the fully updated Windows Vista ISO (I am installing updates in audit mode, and after installing updates I will do sysprep, also I need to fully update all editions (I am currently updating Home Basic edition)), but I am keep getting the annoying messages "Volume Shadow Copy Service has stopped working", "COM Surrogate has stopped working", "Windows Modules Installer has stopped working", etc. How to get rid of these messages? And does these messages will interfere with the process of installing updates?
The messages should be gone after sysprepping, but i am not sure. Why does home basic etc need updated ISO? Who uses them in 2022?
Lol this ISO will have not only Home Basic, this ISO will also have Home Premium, Business and Ultimate
Create Home and spend energy one time and after capturing you can set edition Home to (probably most of) all higher editions.
I am doing that so anyone can choose their desired edition (I am also planning to make a separate fully updated Windows Vista Enterprise ISO and Windows Server 2008 AIO ISO)
But I am also going to include Windows Media Center TV Pack 2008 on Home Premium and Ultimate editions, Product RED Content Pack on Ultimate edition and Ultimate Extras on Ultimate edition
Understood, thanks, also, in my opinion you should make the final ISO on January 2023, as that's when the last Patch Tuesday will take place
Actually M$ was extended ESU support of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 up to 9 January 2024
Also my ISO will include PowerShell 3.0 (yes, I know the way to install it on Vista), and .NET Framework 4.8
Including Home Basic it won't take serious additional space so why not.. Probably none will use it but for the sake of completion I am with you. The TV packs and such I am not so sure.. Can they even be used? (Feel free to explain me how please, I would love to know). Also Enterprise version is pretty much the same code base as the Business or Ultimate (minus extras). You could maybe include it in the same Wim as the rest without taking any additional(serious) space. WS2008 is an other story though.. that one will take almost a full GB of space if you put it in the same Wim.
You can take a look at Windows Media Center with TV Pack 2008 installed (Home Premium and Ultimate only) after I make a fully updated Windows Vista ISO, also WMC TV Pack 2008 is made by Microsoft, but Microsoft is released it only to OEMs, and decided to not make it widely available, but I am found WMC TV Pack 2008, also to watch TV you must have a TV tuner, and about Windows Server 2008... I am going to make a separate ISO (as well as separate fully updated Windows Vista Enterprise ISO)
Also Windows Vista Business and Enterprise did not include Windows Media Center and Parental Controls, Windows Movie Maker and Windows Photo Gallery have slightly limited functionality, and games have disabled by default (you can enable games though).
Now another issue appears... I get sometimes BSOD SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION at the start of installing some updates, but for the 2nd time updates seems to install fine, but why sometimes installing updates is triggering this BSOD on VirtualBox? But I hope that this BSOD is not corrupted some files, as BSOD behaves like hard reboot, which may corrupt some files
