Hey, nice post. One question though, do I need every edition of windows 7 to use the install.wim files or just Ultimate? I already tried this once and I got only Ultimate x32 and x64 on the selection list. Am I doing somthing wrong?
in your orginal post you say about enterprise could the instillation media for enterprise be the 90 day trail iso from microsoft or will i need to get a clean one ie no time bomb version ? cheers
Can be any enterprise version. You can even skip using enterprise completely. sam3971: Check the ISO, make sure it's not still somehow there. Don't ask me how, but that's happened to me a couple times. If not, then make sure your install.WIM has *all* the images. Open it in 7zip or imagex to check. alxtsy: Well, that's fascinating. I don't know why you're sharing, though, sounds like you burnt it wrong. Also, would there be any point in me torrenting this? Seeing as there's so much interest.
Well, it has the right number of images, yes. How strange. Hmmm, check that xml file to see if the entries for every edition are there.
Instructions The line.... Finally, extract the content of the sources directory (except install.wim and ei.cfg) from the x64 DVD to D:\AIO\DVD\sourc64, and copy the setup.exe from the x64 DVD to D:\AIO\DVD as setup64.exe Should it not be: "(Except install.wim, ei.cfg and .clg files)" /om
Hi all. Great thread and technique. This thread is kind of old, but if anyone reads this and knows why it would ak me for drivers, it would be appreciated. Im familiar with all the steps but the hex editing, but assume im doing it right. 32 bit loads fine as always, but 64 bit boot wim loads, but after a screen or 2 asks for drivers and doesnt show a hard drive or a wim edition, its just a blank screen with the driver prompt. Im using an untouched retail 64 bit boot.wim and files also. Is this normal? If not, could anyone possibly post the 2 hex edited files, its the only step i can see me messing up. Besides the 64 bit boot.wim not working, the 32 bit wim works with both x86/x64 installs and works fine. Any help is appreciated as i love this method. The only better way would be to have a single boot.wim with multiple indexes, but i think thats impossible without breaking signature.
x64 Recovery Mode I'm having the exact same issue. Can anyone else confirm that this is normal? Maybe the x64 Recovery Mode can only be used for Repair installs and cannot be used to do a fresh install. I have not tested a repair install yet.
+1 thanks for sharing this.. im going to try this because i like the x64 recovery option and upgrade option that many AIOs do not offer .. currently waiting to finish downloading Enterprise x86 and x64 ISOs before attempting..
What about to make it MULTILANGUAGE? Could you please describe or provide instructions how to make such iso-image (x86 and x64, AIO) with multiple languages also (for example EN-RU). Just the same way as it does with the disks available to MSDN subcribers.
Google windows 7 integrate language pack or here on MDL: Howto make multi dvdinstaller or something like that and u'll find. Edit: Link removed!
Great tutorial! Thanks DKane! I have a few questions to ask - 1. Does this repair BOTH x86 and x64 versions of Windows 7? 2. Can this disc be used with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems (using Windows Vista) to upgrade to the respective Windows 7?
