I am sorry I didn't express myself clearly. I wasn't in any way doubting the genuineness of this ISO. I was only trying to explain away the differing checksums which were widely-published. Of course the de-padded ISOs will always be the gold standard against which other ISOs will be measured.
No drama. I have looked into this padding quite a bit, and it would seem there is no "fits everything" solution to it. With most of the NT range of Microsoft CD's, they used AutoCRC, meaning one could safely cut everything away below the AutoCRC checksum in ISO. Easily done with a hex editor. They stopped using AutoCRC when Vista arrived, which matches everything else MS has done since = crap. Burn a MDSN ISO to DVD, then read it back and SHA1 is different. This can become a problem when trying to make a bootable USB stick with Windows7-USB-DVD-tool.exe. It usually rejects a read MSDN ISO because of this. There are ways around this, but still if the people in MS built labs could include the -x switch when making the originals, this probably wouldn't be a problem. In the XP x64 Archive, I actually left the padding on, thinking otherwise people would start to scream it did not match the other ones floating on the net.
