For some reason when i go to boot from CD-r my keyboard doesnt work. That means i cant select boot from cd and it skips over it.
the ps2 keyboard worked! however, I am still getting the disk read error after the setup reboots the computer. any suggestions?
The disk read error - could it be the hard drive? You never actually said it was a read error on the CD/DVD? Also more details on the USB device you are using? USB CD-Drive? Model? Can you try a different one?
I am using a CD-rewritable. I hope its not the hard drive because i just bought it. I should also mention that the setup says it cannot copy the file: pro_seg5.swf (although I dont think this is it)
As pc tech I can assure you it is the HDD, period. Doesn't matter it is brand new, it could be defective straight out of the factory. Or it could be a refurbished one, who knows.
When installing XP can you get to the bit where it can clear all partitions and make new ones and format them ? Does XP recognise the hard drive in the first place ?
yes it recognizes it and reformats the hard drive. Its after the part where windows reboots that Im having the troubles
I got it to work. for some reason when i booted up the wLan "just werked" lol I really do appreciate all the help in this thread, especially TNX. -DM123
Now i just need to figure out the cheapest way to get microsoft Excel on this computer my dad needs it for work
Yes but he is running Win 7. Mind you with an older machine I would prob stick office 2003 or 2007. OP wanted it cheap and we all know what that really means.
My dad is willing to pay for it I dont necessarily want it for free if it is outright illegal TY, DM123
