Hello everyone Looking for a standalone copy of Windows XP Update agent? MS does not have a standalone copy for download. Any sugestions? Thanks
I don't know what's happen at WU. All XP VL Professional SP3 fail to run windows update. I use only original ISO with SP3 and i must update Agent because WU don't start. No way to make WU working. CPU at 100% during update after update Agent...
the file posted is to download from mediafire link. do you really think that is a valid MS release ? .... I think not
When program went through the steps to make up the WUA did you let it install the new WUA, or did you shut everything down and try to install it yourself? Trying to install it yourself will not work!! You will get a message that says you already have it and you don't have to update it. The program will force the install!!
Ricktendo is 100% trustable. your choice what you seek has now been provided for you. this thread should be closed as it has been fulfilled.
Just checked the bat file, and yes it was allowed to run the Code: WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86-7.6.7600.256-257.exe /wuforce It was after I tried to run it manually and it failed to install. But all pointless since nothing is fixed, WU still do not work.Clearly MS is getting desperate to get people to downgrade to 7-8.1
Yes I know the bat file is set up to run the the install of WUA, BUT did you let it run the install?? Doing it manually will not work!! That's because your not forcing the install. That is where you see "/wuforce" in the bat file. Here is what this this does in a nut shell: 1... When you start the "Run Me" bat file, it downloads everything needed from MS 2... Once everything is downloaded it creates the WUA cab file 3... Once the WUA is created it will install it right away for you. You will see the install being extracted and the install begin. 4... at this point you will follow the instructions of the install 5... once it is installed The "Run Me" bat file will delete everything except the WUA. 6... DONE! If you want to run it yourself, create your own bat file and place it in the same folder as the WUA and run it. Code: start /wait "" WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86-7.6.7600.256-257.exe /wuforce Rest assure that WU does work. It may take time for it to scan your computer. The last time I went to WU it took 25 min. before the scan was completed and show me the updates I needed. Some times it goes faster. You just have to wait it out. Yea I think they are fooling with the XP people
I am having a bitch of a time trying to get this to work. I've used this batch, Microsoft Fix It and some other crap and it's all a mess now so I'm gonna start over w/ a fresh SP3 install. all I have to do is run the batch file and then go through the installation when it comes up right? I did that before and at the end of the installation it gave me an error and now Windows Update does a little work then apparently it hangs as there is no drive activity. HD Tune is saying there is nothing wrong with this drive but I've been having trouble browsing folders and some other strange stuff has been happening so I'm gonna pop a new drive in as well
question: if I install 226 official MS download (seems to be the latest standalone installer) to a clean SP3 install, will Windows Update start to work at that point?
I looked into the possibility of Windows 7 and determined this machine was borderline compatible so I went for it. Had minor troubles installing XPDM driver for Intel 865 graphics but was successful. It's slow but it's working. Adding new-old paired DDR ram (old stuff was mismatched and running at a low speed as a result) and new-old hard drive (old hard drive had weird issues not even being reported by SMART) has helped also. It seems so strange that 8 years ago someone dropped 100's of dollars on this thing but hell I had a Pentium II that cost over 2 grand. I spent YEARS playing Quake II on that 3DFX card.
