Anyone else receiving this message when trying to run Windows Update? I used to install PosReady updates straight from WU. I believe last time I ran it was 2 weeks ago, but yesterday I tried to run again to see if MS pushed new updates and I receive this message.
I don't like this way of updating :/, I like to see whats being pushed and read the kbs. It seems the only option left is to set to auto update and send "wuauclt.exe /detectnow" if you want to force the check and update install immediately. PortableUpdate is nice but there is some problems, it downloads deprecated kbs packages (that are override by the newer versions after a few cycle of checks) and other old stuff like IE6/7, this causes some unwelcome bugs after restart, while Windows Update puts only the newer packages and kbs to download and save a lot of time avoiding unnecessary update checks and reboots.
I realized what happened. Microsoft killed windowsupdate.microsoft.com website and changed to this page support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12373/windows-update-faq in face of WannaCry exploit threat to forcefully push a Windows 10 install no matter what is your needs with Windows XP. If you try to open this page in a "out-of-date" browser (IE8), you get that page shown in the screenshot. Nobody will be able to update XP systems from the Windows Update anymore. I think this move just makes things worse since not even POSReady systems can update anymore, I just tested with a POSready2009 Embedded terminal.
They changed/discontinued the specific subdomain. While they probably didn't do it on purpose, they don't specially care for XP, either.
Hi, I'm trying to update a clean installed Windows XP Professional SP3 but when I try to run Microsoft Update it says "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage" Why? How can I fix it? Thanks
