Hey folks, trying to follow this. Has anyone got it working with Windows 8? I have a UEFI install USB with a clean hash I made for a Lenovo y510p to do a clean install. I've tried to follow this and adapt it to win 8 but am stuck at the part where you put a key in slmgr/ipk"insert key here" Possible to proceed from here or no? Thanks in advance
Yoicks, thanks. I thought I had read somewhere it works. But I guess not. Back to Win 7 ult, I suppose.
Having trouble getting this to work. Have tried following Busty Lolichan's walkthrough, but get an error "Run slui.exe 0x2a 0xBBA to display the error text. Error 0xBBA" when I try to enter the slmgr/ilc command. For what it's worth, I also can't get mountvol to show the EFI partition. I have to use diskpart and assign a letter to it in order for it to mount and be visible. I then tried the links on the first post. Downloaded Installer EFI cli.zip and Key Cert Installers.zip. extracted and ran the first, and extracted and ran the Gigabyte one from the second. Rebooted and pc hung on the BIOS/UEFI loading screen. unplugged HDD and replaced. Asked me which OS I wanted to boot, I selected Windows 7 and it booted up without issue, but also without activation. I'm on a Gigabyte Z97X-SLI with BIOS F6 (the most recent) if that matters. Cheers!
it was working just fine then i updated my bios and it is not working now. i uninstalled and installed again and again but not working it all points to xx days to activate/change product key. reinstalling the windows may work but i really dont want that. what should i do ? Edit: After installing WINDSLIC, just installed the DAZ loader and even if it fails on UEFI somehow it completes something WINDSLIC miss and it works now.
I have absolutely no clue how to get this thing to work Tried windSLC, greyed out Tried daz loader but no support for Gigabyte keys I'm running out of options
I am on UEFI mode. I dont know previous but latest version starts perfectly in GPT partitioned UEFI Windows 7. It tries to install but fails. The error was "No OEM Certificate found" in Slic Toolkit and DAZ Loader somehow fixed it. As I told WindSlic works perfectly but the error came after Bios Update.
The Loader works for UEFI/GPT only if the BIOS already has valid SLIC 2.1. In that case only certificate and key are installed. But if it had to install its bootloader all you would get is "Unsupported Partition Table".
So I can use the thing in the OP on my Asus z97-A to activate 7? It's brand new from the factory and I haven't installed any OS yet.
Would this work on a New Toshiba laptop that comes with Win 8.1 ? (Would it have a higher than 2.1 SLIC?) I need to do a Native VHD boot of Win 7 x64 SP1 in UEFI mode in addition to the existing Win 8.1
I tried this on a Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 motherboard and now my machine gets stuck on the bios screen where you can press DEL / F12 / etc. Nothing responds. Please help! EDIT: Seems like same issue as the guy 1 page back. Disconnecting and reconnecting hard drives (along with probably unnecessary CMOS reset) seemed to make my computer start again. But still need a real solution.
Hi all, apologies for being a bit low on expertise here. Using Daz loader v2.2.2 I tried and failed to activate an IBM server (windows 2008 R2) that has UEFI on the motherboard (I believe). There is no option to switch it off in BIOS / legacy etc so I came here. I downloaded the installers and certs on page 1 of this thread which when running said success and the activation went back to 30 days to activate. Finally tried the loader again and the same error appears: "Unsupported partition table" Any help greatly appreciated and simple steps even more greatly appreciated!
having the same issue here. just built this PC last night, tried WindSLIC, chose gigabyte OEM, rebooted, and i get stuck at the gigabyte post screen. switching to the second bios boots successfully but i'm not trying this again until i can get this resolved. any help?
I'm having a little trouble understanding what to do here. I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on a GPT volume and booting with UEFI, so the normal loaders like daz won't work. I'm not a 100% positive what the deal with SLIC here is, do I install it, then what? Windows is activated? I tried using the installers, they caused me to not be able to boot(I had to repair). I've now since done the manual installation, but I don't know if I've done it right. Is the entire installation just putting a bootx64.efi in the boot volume and changing bootmgr to point to it? Because I've done that, and I managed to boot fine, but Windows is still not activated. What do I need to do? *Edit* I ran the Loader again after doing the SLIC installation, and this time it worked, everything seems to be working. *Edit 2* Kind of strange issue : on some boots, Windows will behave slightly strange. Eg I can't move/copy/create files, internet explorer also will not follow links. It seems to be fixed when I reboot, but it does happen on some boots. Very strange. It started happening after repairing my installation.
We have resolved this by booting in repair mode DOS and then using diskpart to convert from GPT to MBR. Loader will then work.
