For Windows XP is needed an storage device with the double of the image size.

Example: I have an Windows XP media with 700MB - I need of 1,4GB of drive for make an XP install of an USB Device.

The requirement is the double of the source.

For example: Your Windows XP disk is 700MB - The requirement is 1400MB.

It depends of your USB Device speed and your hardware load.

Oddly for some reason when I flag 'I want to use the old FAT32 filesystem for more compatibility' under Setup to USB it seems to ignore that flag and format the USB drive to NTFS every time. Anyone else have this issue?

the msdos to usb option fails on Windows 8.

Originally, some gibberish.exe was crashing and therefore it failed at formatting. After setting DEP and SEHOP to OptIn instead of AlwaysOn, no more crashed but it still failed at formatting.

In contrast, HPUSBDisk.exe worked like a charm with a win98boot.zip file i found somewhere.

    Gratitude

    Hi Josh,

Thank you so much for your contribution to humanity!

So your program will allow me to make a clone of my entire computer (OS plus all my files)
onto an external HardDiskDrive by USB?

If so, I definitely am going to use your program and contribute to your Paypal account.

    So, here's my situation:

On my computer I have my OS (ha-ha, of course) plus some files [37Gb used, 3Gb free]
On my external HardDiskDrive (connected by USB) I have some more files. [290Gb used, 10Gb free]

Your program will "clone" EVERYTHING (37Gb Computer files plus 290Gb External HDD files) onto a nice backup "clone" file, right?

How big will the nice backup "clone" file be?
Meaning, will it fit into the small free space I have?
Or do I have to use a second External HDD to make this work?

By the way, my OS is Japanese, I hope that won't cause any trouble.

Thanks again for your creation, and thanks again for helping me understand how this will work. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

    Sincerely,

    Steve

I am trying to install a full windows xp version on my thin client hp t5700. I can boot from the usb but after it copied the installation files to C: and reboots i get an error: NTLDR missing. How can i solve this? Booting from the usb isn't possible anymore. Need to rebuild it with WinUsbMaker.

C:\ isn't your real hard drive, is your USB Drive.

After the copy for the C:\ drive, you need to boot with the USB Device again. If fails, please try the WinToFlash.

    @Others

I'm planning an new update after some work on other project. Thanks for understanding.

great tool ! thanks a lot.

Just a quick one: I'm using it to install XP SP3 VL, why the copy to the harddrive is so slow? It takes almost an hour. it's slower than copying from a CD.
