what alternatives are there to wmp that use a library idea? itunes - sucks zune - suck, but not quite as bad as itunes
Winamp for music and K-Lite Codec Pack (incl. MPC-HC) for videos. VLC on backup if some video doesn't play otherwise (very rare).
i use the shark 007 codecs, and they work beautifully. the only problem is that sometimes flac wont play, and i have to restart wmp for it to work.
For playing, tagging, converting and managing every auido format effortlessly nothing beats MediaMonkey. MediaMonkey has a lot of skins to choose from and works with Winamp plugins. I use the ASIO out plugin to render bitperfect Flac playback. For video playback I prefer Media Player Classic which supports directshow filters provided by FFDShow Tryouts. Also install the Haali media splitter. I also sometime use VLC. For video conversion I use Handbrake, Pazera and the Super encoder (which can employ FFDShow and Haali). I never install codec packs or individual codecs. I never install Itunes. I never use Windows Media Player.
Plex Media Player can do everything that you ask (except for skins) BUT, you can even do live tv with a plug in and channels for external content. AND its free "plex.tv" What I like best about it is that I can relocate my media libraries and it will rescan retaining previous selections and watched / unwatched, etc. It is environment friendly. Win 7, 8.1 10. Linux, Etc. Plex Clients can run on Android, IPhone, IPad, IOS. Super cool!
Is there a way of making WMP12 look for all albums information automatically instead of searching manually for each one?
