Bitdefender Free is useless without 24/7 internet connection & the paid version has bugs which have not been fixed from a few years....is Avast compatible with Windows 8.1 yet?

Is avast! that bad? If I (for some unforeseen reason; I use nothing) ever had to acquire antivirus, I usually go with avast!, didn't find it too bad at all.

I installed Snagit 11, Office Pro Plus 2013 x64 VL Edition, unlocker, hashtab, daemon tools pro advanced and latest version of chrome. I activated office by phone method, which worked fine I'd like to backup the activation, can anybody help me about this?
the data.dat and tokens.dat are in the %windir%\system32\spp\store\2.0 folder instead of the %windir%\system32\spp\store folder Just copy the 2 files and tuck them away someplace safe. data.dat is hidden by default so turn in hidden file view
