Easyboot doesn't work. How would I set up the DOS partition that boots first, runs wow, then executes Vista? I am also looking for a solution that I can put into the Windows Vista installation. I know how to make partitions automatically during the vista installation, but I don't think it would give me the option for a DOS partition.
For some reason my WOW6 doesnt work anymore. My PC is in a reboot loop. What fixed this the last time was renaming in windows explorer: bootmgr to bootmgrv grldr to bootmgr But now i cant rename or delete for some reason. Windows says "you need permission to perform this action"
Intel X58 hmm ,it was problem in Vista update KB940510 (activation killer)... But it is a good idea to try with new bios!! THANKS
Ga-e7aum-ds2h Hi, First post here, after reading & experimenting a lot. This forum is definitely the best source of information concerning V activation I was able to find. So, as I haven't seen my motherboard in this thread, I thought I'd give a little feedback, about my successful activation (for the time being...). Short story : It works with WoW 5.2.2 Long story : I installed Vista x86 SP1 (skipped KB940510) on a hard drive which had already been used on another machine. On this previous machine, V worked fine with Vistaloader 2.1.2.1. I guess the MBR had already been messed with at that moment. So, I transferred the drive to my new motherboard, installed the same Vista (by formatting the C partition), and tried to activate. I tried all the loaders, activators, etc.. I could find, and the only one that worked was Vistaloader 3.0.0.1. WoW looked interesting, but wouldn't boot. Yet, it was not stable. V reported "Activated" only after a soft reboot. With a cold boot, or wake up from hibernation, it didn't work. Then, I messed with TOATKTools (don't ask me why...) and messed up the activation again, this time definitely. I tried to uninstall and re-apply Vistaoader, restore an image (partition + MBR) I had made when it was reporting "activated", but no luck. I decided then to give WoW another try. I figured it wouldn't boot originally because of my messed MBR/Bootloader. So I tried a few things to fix it : - uninstall Vistaloader - restore clean MBR with Vista DVD (Recovery) - Clean bootloader with EasyBCD I'm not sure what worked, but it did, and next time I tried to boot with the WoW 6.0.1 CD, Vista loaded properly. Note concerning the CD : burning the ISO from "WoW6.0.1_REMOVABLE_HP.rar" produced a CD which could not boot on my machine. However, creating a boot CD "manually" with Nero and using the Floppy image found in the same file as source did work. So, Vista finally loaded with this CD (while staying 30 seconds on a screen saying "Starting cmain()"). Once loaded, I pasted the HP cert file on my C:, typed the 2 command lines given on page 1, rebooted, and TADA : activated. (WoW !) Next, I installed "WoW6.0.1_NOMBR_HP.exe" in order to get rid of the CD. Sadly, it did not work. The PC was stuck at the end of POST, just after "Verifying DMI pool data". Thanks to the CD, I was able to load Vista again, I uninstalled 6.0.1 and gave a try to 5.2.2. Rebooted, and, yes, it works. So the problem with 6.0.1 does not seem to be related to activation itself (which is why I didn't paste any AcpiScope report), but rather to booting with grub/DOS from the hard drive. Finally, the behavior is much more satisfactory than Vistaloader, as V reports being activated wether I start from a cold boot, a soft reboot, or back from hibernation. If you still need the report, or any more detail, please let me know. However, thank you very much for the hard work. Fred
Are you using Vista64? Also, how do you install WoW 5.2.2 properly? I tried just running it and letting it extract everything into C drive, then it automatically ran the bat file but rebooting has no effect on the activation
Vista 32 (x86) Look on Page 1 you have to run 2 commands afterwards, to apply the HP certificate and product key.
Ya I tried that, all it says was file not found? I searched for the vbs file but nothing? I tried searching this forum for an instructions thread but nothing as well?
How exactly did you install it? I can't seem to find any instructions. I ran the exe, it extracted the files, i rebooted and I tried running the commands but it keeps saying file not found? I've got the same problem with the DX58SO
ga-e7aum-ds2h help activate vista x64 Hello, I am trying to activate windows vista ultimate x64 with SP1. I tried vistaloader 3.0.0.1 however, it does not seem to work with this motherboard (ga-e7aum-ds2h). I uninstalled vistaloader and tried to install WOW 6.0.1. Here is what I did: 1) I created a bootable CD to test the activation first. I booted vista with the CD and then entered the two commands to update the key and apply that HP file. Vista was then activated! 2) After verifying that my PC can be activated using WOW, I rebooted without the CD and installed WOW 6.0.1 to the hard drive as per the instructions. 3) I rebooted without the cd after installing WOW 6.0.1 to the hard drive, however this did not seem to work. My PC hung during boot up. Right after "Verifying DMI pool data". 4) I saw someone else had success with my same motherboard after they tried WOW 5.2.2 instead of WOW 6.0.1. I booted into windows with the cd and uninstalled WOW 6.0.1. Then I re-booted again and installed WOW 5.2.2. I restarted my PC without the CD and this time, it got past the "Verifying DMI pool data". However, it then hung before loading windows (i.e. there was a blank black screen with a blinking cursor on the left). Any ideas what could be wrong? I know the activation works using the CD. But I can't get it to work off the hard drive. I have attached a dump of my acpi tables before I applied the WOW patch and then after I applied the WOW 6.0.1 patch. Ofcourse, I had to boot using the CD to get the acpi dump after applying the WOW 6.0.1 patch. The dumps were taken using rw-everything. I could not get the acpiscope working in vista x64. While reading the forums, I saw references to WOW 5.2.2 visible version. However, I cannot find any links to download. Maybe this can help me troubleshoot?
