Thanks Xinso, I have known about the later builds allowing pre version keys. There's a bug in the tool which has allowed lots of people who had pro builds and ultimate to get the home installed.
Makes sense yes. Anyway the golden rule is confirmed. The more is automated a procedure, the less chance you have to get what you want.
Exactly what I was going to suggest...(So how did you know that? Have you been spying on me through Win10, you rogue? I've spent all day fencing in my info inside a bastion of 6,000 lines of assembly and so you shall not usurp my pizza order again! Ev'ah! That info is private, capeesh?) J/K....
still can't get home to change to pro even with build 10565. Keeps saying my product key cant be used to activate this edition of windows. I have a windows 8 pro key not 8.1. It has always let me install pro with this key on windows 8 and 8.1.
Any other way to get pro without reistalling windows 8 then using my key to upgrade to pro from home because of embeded key then reinstall 10?
I like puzzling and these are my 2 cents i want to put in He had 8.1 pro, mediacreation tool installed the wrong version... Still the same... Okay, as far as i know there is no option to it directly. At least you have to reinstall/revert to 8.1 from 10. If the key in bios is 8.1 Home/Core then 8.1 Home/Core can automacly be installed (if the DVD is modded to read out windowsm from bios), not 8.1 pro (therefore the upgrade tool or any multi-index release will choose the corresponding win 10 (Home). If you always use insider builds, not in this instance, referring to the first quote. Then the wrongfully installed windows 10 would not be genuine. I guess the key you think is Pro really is Home/core, the key included with the 8.0 DVD you bought may be pro but the bios key makes all windows installs believe it's Core/Home. Normally should a store bought OEM Systembuilder/Retail windows dvd not be able to read out the windowsm key from the bios, not?
Revert to 8.1, check windows 8.1 version (Core or Pro) and if it's genuinely activated, do YEN's genuineticket trick to avoid upgrading and get an genuine HWID and do a clean 10 install or after reverting back to 8.1 do the upgrade again
What do you want. If you don't care about installing the insider preview, then clean install it, and just add a VL key and use a KMS. But next year before July, you should put back 8 and go to 8.1 and then to 10 pro and get activated with your HWID.
Its installed with a windows 8 oem key in my bios. I cant afford the cost of the windows 8.1 or 10 key. Costs too much for me plus I am broke.
