I dont want to have to go backwards to 8 then back to 10 again just to get pro features that I should already have.

Happen that pepole wants to upgrade from win 10 home to win 10 Pro, you know...

Just click on the setup and put the right key in (the one I posted above).

Then go to eat a sandwich, when you will be back you will have w10 pro.

Then look for the activation (you should be not activated because the generic key) follow the wizard and put in your key when asked.

Did i say something about the key in that comment? What i earlier said is that is imho not possible to directly upgrade from 8.0 to 10.

start > run > put in "regedit" > (enter)

go to: "hkey_local_machine" than go to "software" than to "Microsoft" than to "Windows NT" and than to "CurrentVersion", search for the registry key which is named "EditionID" and change it to "Professional"

or open a notepad paste xinso's txt in it and save it as .reg file and open it.

I think we got that @ message #10 we are @ msg #65, now

paste that text on text file, and save it as something.reg (not something.reg.txt) then doubleclik on it.

I know how to change something in the registry. I am on to step 2. downloading Windows10_InsiderPreview_x64_EN-US_10565.iso so I can do the in place upgrade. Going to take me 3 hrs to download it since I only have 5mb/s connection.

So you have a genuine 8.0, upgraded using the mediacreation tool to 10 but it was not the expected version (according to you the wrong one) and you're an ms insider?

    The mistery continues...

His machine has got a MSDN key of Windows 8 Core. This is why the upgrade by normal way is Windows 10 Core.

I just told you I was an ms insider. this pc at one time had 8.1 installed and activated on it but was pro version. My hard drive died so I had to get a new one and all I had to istall with was genuine 8.0 pro installed it thought it was pro then upgraded via media tool then doday noticed it was home not pro like it should have been.
