wrong version of windows 10 installed

    yes and trying to get 10565 pro with my windows 8.0 pro key.

    I dont have MSDN key my key is from HP who made my pc. the windows 8 home oem key which I did not want to use I wanted to used my 8.0 pro key I bought from best buy back in 2012.

    Please show me the content of C:\1.txt, would you?

    Is it Windows 10 Home now?

    I think he meant you have a bios (oem:Dm, windows:Dm) key, a key in the bios used by oem manufacturers like HP on preinstalled windows versions on their hardware.

    Do you have the 1.txt for xinso?

    yes and I dont have a file in c:\ that is 1.txt.

    press Windows+R type, WindowsAnytimeUpgradeui.exe and press enter, click I already have a product key and type in your Windows 8.1 Key then It will upgrade and reboot your system and you will have 8.1 pro. I had this exact problem before and that is how I solved it.

    ps it was a windows 8.0 key.

    If a store purchased PC comes with Win 10 Home (that got activated by the owner), what are the options to upgrade it to Pro?

    I remember reading that Win 7 Pro --> Win 10 Pro will not work, as the hardware hash is already registered to Home (there was a thread about it here, just can not find it now)

    Of course Retail key purchase would work, or the KMS route.

    But is there any other way?

    Install a preview edition before 10240 that does not know the embedded key.

    Too late! No. Adjust the date back.
