No, there is more than just the exe on it The SP2 and 3 CD's have AutoCRC on them Code: XRMSP1_EN | AUTORUN.HTM | AUTORUN.INF | READMESP.HTM | WINXP_LOGO_HORIZ_SM.GIF | XPSP1.CMD | XPSP1.EXE | +---CDLAUNCH | SHELEXEC.EXE | +---DOTNETFX | ACCMGR.DLL | BASELINE.DAT | CDMGR.DLL | CMNRES.DLL | DEFHELP.DLL | DELTEMP.EXE | DEPMGR.DLL | DFCHGFLD.DLL | DFDEPUI.DLL | DFFACT.DAT | DFFACT.DLL | DISKMGR.DLL | DOTNETFX.EXE | GENCOMP.DLL | HTMLLITE.DLL | MSVCP70.DLL | MSVCR70.DLL | NDPSP.MSP | REBOOTST.EXE | RUNPROG.EXE | SETLOG.DLL | SETUP.EXE | SETUP.SDB | SETUPDB.DLL | SITSETUP.DLL | SUITE.DLL | SVRGRMGR.DLL | TEMPLMGR.DLL | UIMGR.DLL | VALIDATE.DLL | VS_SETUP.PDI | XPSP.INI | XPSPREQS.DLL | XPSPSCEN.DLL | XPSPUI.DLL | +---SUPPORT | +---SYMBOLS | | ADVPACK.DLL | | EULA.TXT | | SYMBOLS.CAB | | SYMBOLS.CAT | | SYMBOLS.EXE | | SYMBOLS.INF | | | \---TOOLS | ACT20.EXE | DEPLOY.CAB | FASTWIZ.EXE | GBUNICNV.EXE | HFDEPLOY.HTM | MSRDPCLI.EXE | README.HTM | SETUP.EXE | SPDEPLOY.HTM | SUPPORT.CAB | SUPTOOLS.MSI | SUP_PRO.CAB | SUP_SRV.CAB | \---VALUEADD | BANNER.GIF | VALUEADD.HTM | +---3RDPARTY | \---MGMT | +---CITRIX | | ICA32.EXE | | README.HTM | | | \---INTELDMI | \---CIMOMPRO \---MSFT +---FONTS | ARIALALS.TTF | ARIALALT.TTF | +---MGMT | +---CIMV2R5 | | CIMV2R5.MOF | | README.TXT | | | +---IAS | | IASNT4.EXE | | README.HTM | | | +---PBA | | PBAINST.EXE | | README.HTM | | | \---WBEMODBC | README.HTM | WBEMODBC.MSI | +---NET | +---NETBEUI | | NBF.SYS | | NETBEUI.TXT | | NETNBF.INF | | | \---TOOLS | TTCP.EXE | \---USMT | ICONLIB.DLL | LOADSTATE.EXE | LOG.DLL | MIGAPP.INF | MIGISM.DLL | MIGISM.INF | MIGISM_A.DLL | MIGSYS.INF | MIGUSER.INF | MIGWIZ.INF | SCANSTATE.EXE | SCANSTATE_A.EXE | SCRIPT.DLL | SCRIPT_A.DLL | SHFOLDER.DLL | SYSFILES.INF | SYSMOD.DLL | SYSMOD_A.DLL | UNCTRN.DLL | UNCTRN_A.DLL | USMTDEF.INF | \---ANSI ICONLIB.DLL LOG.DLL MIGAPP.INF MIGISM.DLL MIGISM.INF MIGSYS.INF MIGUSER.INF MIGWIZ.INF SCANSTATE.EXE SCRIPT.DLL SHFOLDER.DLL SYSFILES.INF SYSMOD.DLL UNCTRN.DLL USMTDEF.INF
I also noticed the lack of AutoCRC, so I poked the ISO a bit. There are some signs that suggest that it's original. It was created by CDIMAGE 2.47, same version as used for genuine Windows XP ISOs with SP1 integrated. The creation date is also the same as those ISOs: 2002082912000000. The Publisher, Preparer etc. fields are all correct. The hashes of xpsp1.exe on the CD are correct. I can not be certain that this is a genuine ISO, but if it's a fake, it's very well made. Is it possible that MS simply didn't bother with AutoCRC on this CD? Edit: It's not just a case of this ISO being possibly an incomplete (truncated) image. If you open the ISO in a hex editor, and search for the "AutoCRC" string, there isn't a single match. For a CD with AutoCRC, there are always two matches: one near the beginning, and one right at the end. If this was a truncated image, you'd at least find the match at the beginning.
I think you are right. I think the fact that all the files are the same as on the SP1A CD, except for two, in and of itself doesn't mean much. It's possible that MS really didn't change anything between SP1 and SP1A in terms of the support files. However, what strikes me odd now is that on this SP1 ISO, every file has the same modification date (of 29/8/2002), whereas on the genuine SP1A CD the modification dates for individual files vary wildly. So sadly, looks like the search continues. I think it'd be nice to see what kind of support files are on XRMSP1_DE, I'd expect the genuine EN to be very similar.
i agree with you, ca5fbd61bab337815343b7d52c39dc2796bd51b8 *XRMSP1_EN.iso is definitive a bad made homebrew if i try to open the iso with 7-zip 9.20 i get always a warning 'Incorrect big-endian headers [iso] ...XRMSP1_EN' this never happen on iso's create with a genuine CDIMAGE 2.47 version. (1. big bug) thats true. the following folders (and files) must be identical (see timestamps for the files on sp1a, they all before the release of sp1) CDLAUNCH\*.* DOTNETFX\*.* VALUEADD\*.* (and all subfolders) SUPPORT\TOOLS\*.*(and all subfolders) but the files inside SUPPORT\SYMBOLS\ ar also identical with sp1a (2. big bug) at a minimum - SYMBOLS.CAB, SYMBOLS.CAT and SYMBOLS.INF - must differ coz the debug-sympols create during the compiltime of the files (always a pair file and debug-symbol from the same compiling, otherwise the symbols(.pdb) won't work). sp1 has more files (from ms-java) and some older files then sp1a (sp1a remove ms-java) -> more and diffrent debug-symbols (.pdb) than sp1a the changes in the root ar ok (XPSP1.EXE and XPSP1.CMD) all other files in the root also ok (didn't change between sp1 and sp1a)
bump! was an untouched version ever found? I hear that SP1 allows more ram so I would like to test this. thanks
wow! seriously? what about the first XP available before SP1, is that available somewhere? these gotta be collectors items!
