There are controls introduced by ms before the win8 release that blocks the installation depending on NX bit, SSE2 and other CPU features. This will prevent ARTIFICIALLY the installation of Win 8/8.1/10 on some machines, even if perfectly capable to run those systems. There are patches to workaround this for w8/8.1 but they are not (yet) available for win 10. For the record I'm running w8.1 on a 12 years old TC1100 Tablet (Pentium M @1.1Ghz) , I have upgraded its RAM modules and replaced the HDD with an SSD. It runs w8.1 better today than XP in 2004. It will run w10 as well if and when the patches will be available.
Dell Dimension 4600i with 160gb IDE drive, 3.4GHz 1GB ram.. Win8.1 runs better on that by far than Win7 using XP video and sound drivers, the rest are installed at install. Haven't tried Win10 YET, being a 32bit system, I just feel time will slow down when I test it out again. I knew I kept this old bugger of a system around for something. Anyway, its currently running Win7 Pro (Pentium 4 is cooking my dinner ATM since its so damned hot) and will do an upgrade to 10 when I get the 32bit Win10 iso this year if it doesn't burn up before then haha
With the spec's required to run Win 10, MS may reach a billion users, any computer made in the last 20 years would love Win 10, I'm so excited I think I do do in my pants, jk
I have had windows 8.1 x32 running on a old IBM lenovo Athlon 3400+ 3 gb ram running flawlessly on my partners pc since 8.1 came out I also have win 10 x64 build 10130 running on a core 2 duo 6550 5gb ram in my experience the new the windows the better it utilises the older hardware for those of us who don't have the cash to splash out new pcs MS gets my respect Just my 2 cent
lol I think he'll have to do some hack to get past the 1GB minimum RAM limit...8.1 had it too (installer would halt) Dat TNT2 will never die
