I know that LTSB version is the most stripped down version of Windows 10 but N means no Media Player regardless Windows version?
LTSB doesn't have a bunch of extra store apps. I don't remember, but I don't even think it has the Windows store. AFAIK it just has basic system apps like cortana in the form of the search function, not the online component. N version is missing basic media apps and camera apps, but is also missing system files pertaining to media decoding and such. I don't know for sure if all of the particular decoding dll files are missing in N versions, but it wouldn't surprise me. That means that everything that relies on the system to already have decoding files will not work until you install said codec files. IMO it's slightly faster in that you have to deal with less files, but it's not so much faster that you'd see a huge difference in benchmarks and such. We're talking about less than a second of difference in a long benchmark at most.
Thanks for the info. I don't play games. Only regular use and don't need anything that comes with the other versions. I got VLC for playing media. So LTSB N should work for me?
some pro audio programs may show an error on an N version, sound forge does on a 7 N. they must need or miss windows media codecs or components. VLC play fine on an N.
IIRC in LTSB it wasn't missing; only the registry entries were and these could be re-added to make it the default again. Not sure if it's the same with LTSB N.
Photo Viewer is not included in LTSB N? Wow. But using LTSB N for gaming isn't recommended though, most DX games require Windows Media Audio codecs.
It's included on LTSB, i guess it's included in LTSB N as well. Just use winaerotweaker to enable it quickly.
I agree so much. It's so fkin annoying they do not even respect your system settings and reset them every update. I changed My Docs, My Pictures, etc. to another drive and with each major update it reset to default C:\ setting in the Settings app which then breaks things like Voice Recorder. Also last major update changed my power settings, changed nVidia settings (how?? lol), uninstalled my software which it found "incompatible" without even ASKING ME. This can't be fkin legal, changing my stuff without ever consulting me first. M$ needs to be sued hard again and again till they give us back a operating system that doesn't require fkin hours of tweaking every update.
