#5: HP USB DISK STORAGE FORMAT TOOL V2.18 Create a DOS startup disk using internal MSDOS system files ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Does that work from within Windows 7 32 and 64?
Ok I think I've got this sorted, just need a few things cleared up. My BIOS is Award, is Awdflash for Award BIOS? I want to mod my BIOS for activating Win 7, I've found the correct BIOS Mod, MA-770-DS3 rev 1 F7 but my currant BIOS is F2. Do I need to update to F7 using the official BIOS from Gigabyte before updating with the Mod ? If I do need to use the BIOS from Gigabyte, can I use the method described in this thread? I ask because the 7zip I got has three items in it a autoexec, FLASHSP and ma770ds3.f7 which files do I copy on to my bootable usb drive. I have a .bin file in the mod BIOS file I down loaded, this is the file to copy over, correct yes? Cheers
Answers: Q1. Yes, AwdFlash is for Award BIOS Flashing. But USE FLASHSPI for a Gigabyte Award BIOS. Q2. Yes, Usually Flashing with Original Updated BIOS and Let run for a day or two to ensure compatibilty. If you have NO problems with that Version, then flash the Modified BIOS. Q3. Copy all three of those files to the Bootable USB Drive (autoexec.bat, FLASHSPI.exe and ma770ds3.f7) The autoexec.bat will auto run the FlashSPI once you reboot with the USB drive inserted. Q4. If the modified BIOS contains a file named "ma770ds3_SLIC.f7" , the that is the modified BIOS file you need to rename to ma770ds3.f7 BEFORE you copy it to the USB Drive to Flash it.
If you have a Gigabyte board, it probably has the built-in Q-Flash utility. Simplifies everything - no need for a DOS bootdisk. Just put the BIOS file onto a USB and off you go.
FlashSPI, which is supplied by Gigabyte with their BIOS Files, has proven to be the the most sucessful utility to use when Flashing the Modified BIOS.
yea still not working, could it be the spiflash utility in the mod is a older version than one i used for the proper BIOS update? In the mod I've the FlashSpi exe, bak. and the f7 files I copy them on to the bootable drive jus like i did before yes? Then enter the cert and key later within widows as per that "How To" I have edit I can now get that command line I saw before to run "flashspi" but it then tells me "NO BIOS FILE SPECIFIED!!" I tried it with the bak as well but its still not auto running
