Check out this thread: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/how-to-add-updates-from-wu-to-wsus.88167/ Maybe you know it. Or it will interest you.
@tro511 , @classical_korean_windows , @vanelle , @Sajjo and all others Internet Explorer 5x-6x for Win9x. These are all the links I have at the moment. These files contain direct links to WU. (ie50x.txt, ie55x.txt, ie60x.txt) - Not sorted by language, version of OS and version of IE. Perhaps one of you can sort them or quickly add them to the web archive.
I am personally interested in direct links to updates (in other languages): IE-KB891781-windows-98-me-x86-... JS51_... JS55_... JS56_... vbs51men_... vbs55men_... vbs56men_... I don't remember how, but it is possible to install IE5.x with 'Active Desktop' in a workaround. There was a special script for this. I have always installed ie4.01 sp2 + update and then ie5.x - as recommended by Microsoft.
there is another mandatory update for ie4.01sp2. I don't remember the numbers. this is an update for OE - patch 2000. year. Lyrical Digression. "Shwarc, you are a storehouse of knowledge." You are exaggerating. I am not a programmer and not even a system administrator. and many things I do not know and do not understand. I once worked as a salesperson, we sold computers and laptops with Windows installed. And very often clients came and complained that the computer was defective or that Windows was not licensed. Because some game or program does not work, or the video file does not play. They did not understand that you need to add components - directX, video codecs or update IE. Therefore, I had to independently monitor which components must be added or updated. And the order of their installation. And there were many such nuances, you cannot remember them all. For example: win95 Ie4sp2+ update + ie5.x. Or Windows XP, if you install WMP 11, it was not possible to install Photostory 2. It was necessary to install WMP10 and then WMP11. only after such manipulations did Fotostory2 install well.
Experience can be a good teacher. Heck, I knew it was an Active Desktop problem, but didn't understand why I would HAVE TO install an older browser to fix it. And, yet another example, I didn't know about the Photostory problem. Apparently, Microsoft and their 'WindowsUpdate' couldn't either. I saw nothing to indicate that they were even aware of the Photostory issue on XP. Would be nice to have, if possible.
