Hello, All! I'm going to ask a very very basic question. Actually my field is little different in computing and it's web designing, graphic designing and security but I want to know about Bios (hardware related) as well. I don't know much about BIOS and their mods. I read some article on Google but couldn't understand well. This is what I know that it's called Basic Input Output System. It controls the Keyboard, mouse, hard drives and system boots as well. Now questions are, Is it (BIOS) Software or Hardware? In which cell it stores? I saw a little cell type device in which BIOS is store. But some Computer repairing people say the term, Your BIOS has burnt. Now we have to do new bios. So what is this? How Bios burnt and how they install or plug (if device) in PC? Next term is the BIOS MOD. I've been watching this term + a full forum category here since I joined MDL. So what actually the BIOS MODS? What thing we get on request here? I request you to please tell me in easy words. I'm unable to understand on Wikipedia and Google as well. Regards,
BIOS is actually Software stored on a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). When they say they are replacing the BIOS, they mean the Chip containing the BIOS Software. To Update The BIOS mods we do here simply add SLIC information to the BIOS so that Windows 7 will see your PC like an OEM PC and can be activated by installing an OEM Certificate and Serial Key.
NoJuan999, I hope the guy can understand (but I doubt, as he admited himself - I'm unable to understand on Wikipedia ...) sebus
I've some further questions NoJuan! When people say your BIOS has been burnt. Does it mean, we have lost the software installed on chip or the chip is burnt? If this thing happens then how can we install new BIOS? I mean how we install new BIOS Software? OR Where we take chip from? What happens when we install a Genuine MS Windows? What change Microsoft makes in PC? I mean where MS stores info about whether Windows is Genuine or not? Also, is it necessary to make a PC OEM if it's not really an OEM PC? (Because some people buy a casing and separatel buy Mother Board, Processor, Hard Drive and RAMS as well and plug all these things in that casing and makes their favorite PC). So is it necessary to make a NON-OEM PC an OEM PC to crack its Windows? What is SLIC? and if I've a NON-OEM PC then how I'll request to take its BIOS MOD here at MDL to make my PC OEM? What thing would I tell about my PC to take its BIOS MOD? Sorry for doing large questioning. Regards,
