I ended up removing ContentDeliveryManager with install_wim_tweak.exe from install.wim, as sfc /scannow would just bring it back, and that firewall rule leaves the placeholder icons. No adverse effects so far. Code: install_wim_tweak.exe /p c:\mount /c Windows-ContentDeliveryManager /r Change "/p c:\mount" to "/o" if you are editing a current installation (online) instead of a mounted wim image. I hadn't resorted to this hacker tool before, but this bundled adware really broke the camel's neck. I might soon be able to do the upgrade to my actual machines, but it might be wise to wait for one bug fix update, or some other snafu that comes up..
Yep, but running sfc /scannow (and maybe W10 even repairs itself automatically) completely restores the ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy with permissions --> it's active again. Although I found these registry settings related to ContentDeliveryManager: Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager] "FeatureManagementEnabled"=dword:00000000 "OemPreInstalledAppsEnabled"=dword:00000000 "PreInstalledAppsEnabled"=dword:00000000 "RotatingLockScreenEnabled"=dword:00000000 "RotatingLockScreenOverlayEnabled"=dword:00000000 "SilentInstalledAppsEnabled"=dword:00000000 "SoftLandingEnabled"=dword:00000000 "SubscribedContentEnabled"=dword:00000000 "SystemPaneSuggestionsEnabled"=dword:00000000 Keeping all these at zero may limit W10's ability to shovel you ads and "guidance".
What if you deleted all the entries in the "SuggestedApps" subkey (in mounted WIM file)? Or set them all to zero. These are exactly the ones showing up and self-installing on a clean install. EDIT: Sorry, I forgot it's in the current user hive, so it won't work...
Isn't the easiest way to disable the ads to: Settings=>Personalization Background, lock screen, colors=>Start=>Occasionally show suggestions in Start Set it to off.
That setting only stops 'suggestions' on the start-menu and doesn't stop the other apps that get automatically downloaded and installed.
And they should do it! Why macOS users don't bothering them what version of operation system they have and why should they buy macOS Pro or Education? Or, even, Pro for Education!? Or Enterprise for business iPads? How can i open this feedback url in Feedback app?
Hi, I did the above ,and the removal was successful according to install_wim_tweak.exe, This one:install_wim_tweak.exe /o /c Windows-ContentDeliveryManager-Package /r but when I do the list command(install_wim_tweak.exe /o /l) afterwards it's still listed in packages.txt? (2 entries) Is it gone or not? EDIT: Syntax above is wrong Correct is: install_wim_tweak.exe /o /c Microsoft-Windows-ContentDeliveryManager /r confirmed by C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy folder is empty, and Packages.txt is missing it's entries after removal.
This is an inane line of argument. No-one gives a fig what MacOS users bother about or not, or how they swallow whatever's fed to them. We are concerned about Windows here, so if they want to downgrade Pro to Home and merge the two then they need to make Enterprise as the new Pro and sell it at Pro's current price to end users too. There's a reason after all that some home users (especially those who assemble their own systems) preferred Pro over Home.
I see no reason the policies wouldn't work on Pro upgraded to Enterprise, but did you manage to confirm it?
Not upgrading, only activating Ent license on Pro edition i didn't test but i don't think it will work, since ProductPolicy reg value is not affected/changed by this
It's amusing that MS go to such lengths to prevent people from doing the most inconsequential things. I wonder what fraction of the entire Windows user base has ever so much as run Group Policy Editor even once in their lives.
You are talking s**t. macOS users don't bothering himself what version they are use, because they are know, that their version have all the functions Apple give to their users. But you still can worship Microsoft that creates "Pro for Educated Small Businesswoman for Single Language".
Apple also charges you a nice fat premium up front for their hardware, which is the only hardware you can run their OS on according to their restrictions. And BTW if my comment sounded to you like MS worship then talking s**t is the least of your problems.
