What is the correct way to completely uninstall V5 from a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition and to install V7?
OK so it is normal I do not get option 1 as described? * Make sure to install the prerequisite updates (reboot if required) * right-click on LiveOS-Setup.cmd and "Run as administrator" * from the menu, press the corresponding number for the desired option: [1] Full Installation {ESU Suppressor + WU ESU Patcher + .NET 4 ESU Bypass} most recommended option [2] Install ESU Suppressor mainly for security-only updates users, whom don't need the Monthly Rollup through WU [3] Install WU ESU Patcher this only allow to offer ESU updates via WU [7] Install .NET 4 ESU Bypass this allow to install NDP4 ESU updates (manually or via WU)
OK thx. I am currently restoring my image from the June update so I can give it another try. This is on a physical machine. I tried to do the same thing on an exact VM setup and there it worked flawlessly. I'll let you know the outcome.
I can verify on my system - Windows 7 x 64 Pro - that after uninstalling ESUv4 and installing ESUv7 and disabling Avast, I can install the NET 4.8; where as previously I could not with Avast enabled. ESUv4 would not install NET 4.8 under any circumstance. Thanks to all.
The 4th one worked, but I don't know how to install it. Wasn't I supposed to have to use a password 2020 somewhere to download this? It's not a live-OS like v5 that I installed.
Here is some guidance + the info at the OP: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...dates-eligibility.80606/page-162#post-1597180
Sorry, but I'm confused about what exactly I'm supposed to do with the v7 file I just downloaded. When I double click on it, it asks me what program to use to open it---what program?
OK thanks I got it to open. But it gives only 3 options: 4. remove WU ESU patcher 7. install .net esu bypass 9. exit
The reason I'm asking is because KB4566517 keeps failing to install. I'm retrying it now that I've installed the .net bypass. Thanks.
Vista (plz read the warnings in post #2) and Server 2008 SP2 are still on v5. Seems to be that even the separate Dotnet Bypass does only work on 7/2008 R2.
