To my knowledge, that's the mechanism that engages WINDOWS UPDATE for processing ESU updates... not validating but processing. If you don't use WU, you shouldn't need it. A newer version of 8483 was issued recently, different than the one issued in Feb. I do not know what it may have brought to the party here...
Hi! I'd like to report a situation with KB4571729, August '20 monthly rollup. I've been installing "our" monthly rollups since January on 3 machines (2 Dell laptops, 1 HP pc, all x64 with different W7 configurations, old but generally well mantained, no malware, no sfc scannow or similar issues). Never had a problem until now. After installing KB4571729 and rebooting, I noticed that I couldn't use any printers, even virtual ones, like Adobe pdf. In fact, the "devices and printers" command didn't work anymore, getting hanged every time. After 2 weeks of failed experiments I simply uninstalled KB4571729 and everything worked fine again. I've decided to wait and see what happens in september patch tuesday. Has anybody noticed anything like this? Any clue on why this happens? Notes: 1) Same thing happens with KB4571719 (Security-only update) 2) Booting in safe mode, "devices and printers" doesn't hang, but it takes a lot to show devices; no printers either 3) I've had no problems after installing other August '20 updates: KB4570506 (.NET Framework), KB4571687 (IE11) and KB4569073 (2020-08 Servicing Stack Update)
I, too have experienced the problem you describe here. I was going to install the security-only update to see if that would work -- you just provided that answer. As it stands, KB4571719 remains uninstalled.
No news on the case. Only, I've seen this problem reported independently in other forums, like spiceworks.
my family's HP Envy Photo 7800 series wireless printer works fine with the KB4571729 update on Win7 - and "devices & printers" control panel does not "hang" on my Win7 machines I guess only some Win7 users will experience the problem and a few others like me will not
So now I ran into the problem where I cannot uninstall some programs due to failing Windows Installer Service. I have Bypass-V7 installed, and removed/disabled both .NET 4 Bypass and WU Patcher (as shown in below screenshot). But trying to uninstall some programs gets the error: "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed".... Is there anything I can do to get around this?
Hi All, With the last september 2020 update KB4577051, I can't make it work, after reboot, windows fail and remove updates. Does anyone have the same problem? (with last patch v7 installed ok) Thanks !
