After downloading all 3 Jan updates and restarting my PC, WU said there is one important update found which seems suspicious. Its name is KB4536952. Not going to install it for now until someone explains what it is about.

Hmm, I installed KB4528069 from Windows Catalog successfully on 29.12.2019... (I installed it long before Jan updates)

  3. I've installed the "last" batch of updates just there including the Servicing Stack update. I was however wary about the .NET Framework security rollup as I personally had trouble with these kind of updates before but so far, things are fine. I will be installing the bypass tomorrow because it's late here.

So just for a refresher, I do the following:
    1. Install bypass
    2. Obtain latest updates via Windows Catalog (or maybe the Win7 update history showing only the rollups)
    3. Remove bypass until the next Patch Tuesday
    Am I right, folks?

No bypass will be needed for these regular updates.

The regular WU 1/14 updates install just fine with or without the ESU patch. The problem is that the 1/14 Updates (not sure which are safe) seem to break the patch and prevent ESU updates.

I have the latest SHA-2 updates (KB4474419-v3 and KB4490628) installed long ago

Today with WU I received the KB4534310 update. Also NET KB4532941 and the monthly KB890830.
    After reboot the KB4536952 appeared
    Installed the KB4536952
    Reboot
    Installed ByPassESUv3
Installed KB4528069 manually and it failed
    Removed ByPassESUv3
    Unistalled KB4534310
The KB4536952 uninstaller does not appear
    Reboot
The KB4525235 and KB4532945 appeared and installed by themselves
    Installed ByPassESUv3
    Installed the KB4528069 manually OK
Installed the KB4534310 with WU OK

I would say take your chances on today's updates since there the last normal security one's and eventually we'll find out of it breaks ESU and then find another work around or just tell people to uninstall it.

I was down to the wire last night and tried to install bypassesu v2.7. Got the error message that I needed administrator privileges but I was using an admin account (win7 pro). Went ahead and tried to install the test esu, which failed to install. The final win7 updates downloaded last night and just installed. I saw the win7 end of life screen after one of my restarts today, so obviously I didn't get the bypass to work. Am I out of luck? If 2.7 is the wrong version and I should be using 3.0, can I still do that?

Also, my notebook has now shut down several times and upon powering back up, I'm seeing the same message each time - system shut down to avoid overheating. Notebook sits on a cooling pad and both fans are working, so not sure if it's truly an overheating issue or an issue with one of today's "final updates".

Anyone else experiencing this or have any thoughts, ideas?

    Thanks to all for sharing.

    1. The ESU bypass was not needed for the last regular updates of today.
    2. It seems it didn't install, or did you finally right-click it and selected for "run as admin" and got it installed?
    3. If yes, run the remover the same way, to remove the bypass, currently installed, and when the ESU updates are released, install the version that is available at that time.
    4. If no, then when the ESU updates are released, install the version that is available at that time.

Until this gets sorted out I'll just wait. Somebody will figure a way to be able to do everything with 1 patch

It is one patch and working fine, only not needed yet.

I think they're probably talking about getting the ESUs via their regular method of update rather than manually but obviously no one can test that till MS start pushing them.

Hey Enthousiast, should we install KB4534310 (the one that installs the nag screen that asks to update to windows 10)? I'm guessing that KB4536952 makes it redundant?

After following every step I get an error message after downloading the last step

The following updates were not installed:
    KB4528069

as a side note I am using windows 7 pro 64 bit - was wondering if the BypassESU files posted are meant for 64 bit or not.

The second post says to install the Dec 2019 SSU, but the Jan 2020 SSU has been published. Are the SSU cumulative or are they like the Security Only Quality Updates where you need to install each one?
